I don't know a lot about the market, so where does it rank on the OW chart there? It's obviously a new Japanese film record, but it's also higher than a lot of films I looked up like Frozen II.

I know! It surpassed its first Monday hours ago. Today, it's 18th day, is its biggest single weekday now and breaks the Monday record.

It's going to be near 800 million ($7.5 million) and 600,000 admissions. This is nearly as high as the third Monday's for Endgame and The Force Awakens in the U.S.. And it's not a holiday. It's benefiting from being before a holiday, but it's not a holiday and even came off a discounted Sunday.

Wow! WOW!! WOW! I can't believe it has beaten it's previous Monday record! Amazing! And it's the third week! I can't imagine how many more will be watching Demon Slayer Movie again once the prime time ends in December 04 and after Volume 23 is released.

¥40 billion ($380 million+) is becoming more realistic and attainable by the day in Japan. Taiwan alone will probably push the WW total above $400 million (if it doesn't get there in just Japan first...), then.

Many of the other smaller East Asian countries, and those in Oceania where it's schedule to open in the next few weeks/months will probably deliver at least decent numbers (maybe more than decent). The China and South Korea numbers, China in particular, are likely to be huge as well I imagine. More confident in China being big because it's already being discussed.

A quick note about how dailies work in Japan since some of the daily comparisons week-to-week may seem off when looking at them (especially when comparing a weekend day to a weekday day or vice-versa) in the updates:

-Over the weekends (Saturday and Sunday), urban locations have a higher share of the weekend business than they do on the weekdays since they stay open later than rural locations. ~75% (urban):~25% (rural).
-Over the weekdays (Monday-Friday), urban locations still have a higher share, but rural locations represent a higher share than they do on the weekends because urban location close earlier. ~67% (urban): ~33% (rural).

And the usual locations we track, representing for ~70% of the market, is almost exclusively locations in urban areas (like 80/85%). So it can be easier overestimate a film's performance a bit on the weekend, and easier to underestimate them on the weekdays.

This is why the weekdays have been underestimated the last two weeks, and the cumulative total has come in a decent bit higher than estimated despite the weekend estimates being quite close to the actual. So you can't accurately compare a weekday's (Mon-Fri) admissions at the usual locations to try and get an estimate by comparing it to a weekend (Sat-Sun). A Mon-Fri must be compared to a Mon-Fri, and a Sat-Sun must be compared to a Sat-Sun to get the most accurate result.

Tuesday is likely to match its opening day, yep.

Theaters have given it seats/showtimes equal to the weekend for the holiday, and over 50% of its seating is already reserved it appears. I expect it'll outpace its opening day throughout most of the day, but slow down at night since its a weekday.

I guess the only record a sequel can break is opening day...
