Impressive pics. Still, I doubt the second YW movie will open above or outgross the first. Kind of like Pokemon back in the late 90s really.

Re: Japan Box Office: 07/24-25 (Usual Locations - Sat. Resul
Don't take its Saturday decline to mean too much right now. It'll recover some tomorrow and could still avoid a 50% second weekend drop, which is in-line with most of the previous films which drop in the mid/high 40s in their second weekends. But, it could end up below the fifth movie and become the lowest-grossing in the franchise. It's 50/50 right now. Saturday was also potentially hurt by advance tickets going on sale for the next Yo-kai Watch film. It doesn't release until December, but tickets went on sale across Japan at 06:30AM Saturday morning.

Wow...will this Pokemon movie even beat movie 5's gross ?
Do you know the budget for these movies ? I trust they're still profitable even with this declining gross ?

Re: Japan Box Office: 07/24-25 (Usual Locations-Hourly Updat
Probably not. It's not impossible, but it'd require a really, really strong Sunday since it should fall to #3 for Saturday. Hero 2 will pull ahead in the evening/night hours, and the The Boy and the Beast will begin playing catch-up in the evening and should eventually overtake it (like it did last week).
Saturday should go: Hero 2 > The Boy and the Beast > Inside Out
I think it's unlikely anything in the Top 10 is going to change positions from last week except for Shaun the Sheep Movie switching places with Mad Max: Fury Road (8th/9th).

Impressive that IO is neck to neck with Hero 2. Any chance that it could win the weekend?

Re: Japan Box Office: 07/24-25 (Usual Locations-Hourly Updat
Pokemon should recover a bit throughout the day, and then on Sunday. They rarely drop over 50% in their second weekends.
Inside Out posted impressive weekday numbers (especially on Wednesday, which was Ladies'Day), suggesting it has a large female audience. It and The Boy and the Beast were very close over the Tuesday-Friday frame, both trailing a bit behind Hero 2.

Seems like Inside Out is holding out nicely. Pokemon should be holding well this early in the morning.

There are no wide-openers this weekend, so I'm just going to update the big releases again. This week, however, you'll notice % changes. Those are the % changes for each individual film at the same point in time last week.
It's important to note, too, that Hero 2 had stage greetings last Saturday morning/afternoon. It's bound to be down significantly compared to last week for awhile, but should recover as the day/weekend progress.

Re: Japan Box Office: Weekend Results (Marine Day Weekend)
san-ni-ichi wrote: Corpse wrote: san-ni-ichi wrote: So I expect the average ticket price over week 6 to be around ¥1,400~¥1,410, but it is at a high ¥1,664 suddenly? That was a lot to quote, so I'm just leaving your question here. Thanks for correcting the typo. It's at 1.27 million admissions (1,271,446) as of this past Sunday (121,000 over last week's 1.15 million). I just added the 121,000 admissions to the incorrect admissions figure of 1.13 million from two weeks ago. Its avg. ticket prices was very, very high this past weekend because it sold through 91% of all of its available admissions, and those tickets cost ¥2,100 due to the incentives. That greatly inflated the avg. ticket price over the past week. Unfortunately, no admission figure was given for the weekend (the 6th weekend, which you're requesting). It did sell 84,661 tickets over its 5th weekend, however, which gave it an avg. ticket price over its 5th weekend of ¥1,463. Bunkatsushin and public news outlets didn't report the exact number after Monday. They just reported that it exceeded ¥1.9 billion because that was final gross of the K-On! film from a couple years back, which Love Live! is often compared to. That makes a lot more sense now! I did not know there were tickets that were around 2,100 yen over the 6th weekend. I see, but did Bunkatsushin provide the total number of admissions as of the 35 day update here ( http://www.bunkatsushin.com/news/article.aspx?id=104960), or was it the same deal as the 38 day update? Did they provide a exact number for the total admissions as of the Umi no Hi national holiday, or only a rounded off figure? Would it be possible to also include a list of the exact number of total admissions and the weekend admission number (if they are available for a particular movie) as per each weekend, in addition to the weekend data? Thanks for answering all my questions! They didn't reveal an admissions total in that article either, or after Monday. Unless a specific goal or target's been achieved, admission updates are uncommon during non-weekend news. Or, they'll be rounded or updated by saying, 'exceeded X admissions'. I usually post weekend admissions/total admissuons for everything they're available for in my Weekend Results post on Mondays. Actual weekend admissions for non-openers are rarely reported, though, only the total admissions. And even bunkatsushin can be selective in what they report. Does this answer your questions?

Re: Japan Box Office: Weekend Results (Marine Day Weekend)
I'm still not home, so I porobably won't be posting them this week.
I'll do the hourly updates and everything over the weekend, though.

They're very selective when releasing them for some reason. ¥1,058,080,000 ($8.54 million) - Hero 2 (NEW) ¥742,220,000 ($5.99 million) - The Boy and the Beast (Week 2) ¥531,150,100 ($4.29 million) - Pokemon XY: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages (NEW) ¥503,047,300 ($4.05 million) - Terminator: Genisys (Week 2) Interestingly, Inside Out's 3-day wasn't released, which is very odd since it was an opener. Articles came out yesterday discussing its weekend gross (which was already known), but no mention of the 3-day total. Also, Hero 2 exceeded 1 million admissions on Wednesday, its fifth day in release, reaching ¥1,330,880,000 ($10.7 million) with 1,026,290 admissions. It became the fastest film released in 2015 to reach 1 million admissions. Poor Pikachu ;.; Any other family films in the horizon that might compete with Pokemon? Last year there was Doraemon.
