Looks like BOM changed it upwards from $7.35. I knew it was around $7.5

I've been using $7.4672 ($7.47) since January 2009. :P It is 4% higher than 2008 levels, and what I have been using for my adjusted for inflation charts.

I expect another 4% increase this year to $7.76.

A ticket to watch Ice Age 2 perhaps would have cost $6.55 in 2006.
In 2009, average ticket price was $7.46. With a $3 surcharge to see it in 3D, that would bring it to $10.46.

So in a three year period, the ticket price would have jumped 59.7% for some people to see it (not including IMAX). 55% of Ice Age's opening weekend gross was from 3D screens!

Ice Age probably would have struggled to get past $150 m this year if not for 3D imo, at least domestically.

Shrek 4 is going to be HUGE. 3D hasn't seen an $80 m + opening weekend yet has it? The last two Shrek movies adjust to $135 m + each in 2010 dollars. I can only imagine what 3D will do for it...

Shrek 4 could lose 20% of the audience of the last film, and still manage a $140 m opening weekend.

I think }Shrek will lose more than 20% of its audience O, but you are right 3D will keep its OW well above $100m.

Has there been a trend in 3D ticket prices - or has it remained steady? I wonder if the added price will go down or just remain steady as 3D reaches a saturation point.
