Theatres should be able to handle multiple imax releases better come next summer.

AVATAR:
Domestically, 178 Imax theaters pulled in a record-breaking $9.5 million. Overseas, 58 Imax theaters generated $4.1 million in ticket sales for a worldwide total of $13.6 million, besting the previous record of $11.3 million this summer for Paramount's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

Imax theaters repped 18 of the top 20 grossing locations domestically. Haul of $9.5 million accounted for 13% of the film's total opening number, although Imax theaters repped just 3% of the total screen count. Imax theaters operated a full capacity, and added 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. shows.

IMAX runs can be scheduled pretty last-minute though - Eagle Eye wasn't scheduled for IMAX until early August, I believe. I'm sure at least a couple fall releases will use the format - Legend of the Guardian probably will, considering WB's love for the format and that Happy Feet had an IMAX run in 2006, as well as Snyder's last two films.

Good. Enough of this Avatar bullshit.

Can you get anymore greedy releasing a barebones BR disc?
"We want to focus on the A/V quality" Newsflash, it's a 50GB disc and it's mandatory you put out great A/V quality considering you're a new fucking release.

Also, no bullshit about, 'At least Cameron told us there will be a November jampacked disc' because virtually no one gets to hear it. Maybe if it was advertised in-store, 'NO Special Features, Coming in November only' but they won't.

Hell, in this day and age who am I kidding? It'll be forgotten by August.

Of course, seeing that Avatar is supposed to have great 3D, and now I've actually seen 3D movies, if it were re-released in my country I would go see it, but that doesn't stop Cameron and Fox being blatant greedy money-grabbing douchebags.

Newsflash, the majority doesn't care about special features. Many times special features on a dics consist of recycled material from TV anyway, pretty lame. They want to do better, a jampacked ultimate edition with multiple versions of the movie and extensive, exclusive, never before seen behind the scenes stuff, which takes time to produce! But the studios have their release windows, you know, they want something out sooner, hence the 2-tiered approach.

I know, but, this apparently has nothing on it. Absolutely nothing and I think it may even take up 2 discs?

I have a problem with how they are advertising it that's all because I will eventually get it (when the right one comes along).

But you know, telling the Internet that the DVD is actually a rip-off is not the same as advertising that a better version will come along.

Sure a lot of people won't care, but it's because most don't know any better.

Imax, Warner Bros. pact on 20-film deal
Includes future 'Harry Potter' films, 'Hobbit,' 'Happy Feet 2'
Warner Bros. has shored up its long-running partnership with Imax with an agreement to release up to 20 movies on the specialty exhibitor's screens through 2013.
In announcing the pact Wednesday, officials said the releases will feature a mix of 2D and 3D titles. Some of the 3D pics tagged for Imax venues include "Legends of the Guardian: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," set to hit theaters Sept. 24; "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" on Nov. 19; "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" on July 15, 2011; "Happy Feet 2" on Nov. 18, 2011; and "The Hobbit," penciled in as a December 2012 release.
