Probably not the first time the number of the beast was linked to Decatur. It always smells of foul sulfur.

Some very solid increases and Zombieland is still very strong.

$100 million for Zombieland here we come!

Paranormal Activity: $82,323 +11.3%.... $2,495 pta. $933,080 total.

Yay it increased. It's a lock to cross $1,000,000 before it expands beyond it's 33 theaters.

And fantastic increase for Zombieland. It could drop under 45% this weekend. That would be great. I think $70,000,000 looks more possible than $100M.

So only the 3D animated films decreased eh? Interesting.

No less than $75 million for Zombieland, however the emergence of Paranormal Activity as well as The Stepfather and Saw VI will inevitably hurt it. Too many big R-rated flicks coming up too...Law Abiding Citizen, Saw VI and The Box all will have an effect over time.

Law Abiding Citzen will not do too much (I don't see more than $40M) given the studio.

Saw IV won't (or barely will) pass $50 million this time around.

The Stepfather will be another Sorority Row with about $15-20M.

The Box however should do pretty good so Zombieland is good for awhile.

Obviously any number lower than another number is more possible

Law Abiding Citizen looks more in the vein of Taken and such...should be the biggest hit for the studio. The trailer's pretty effective too. The Stepfather is the first PG-13 horror in a while. It'll be bigger than Sorority Row if only because it'll be used by many as a sneak-in for Zombieland and Saw VI.

Also, Paranormal Activity is starting to gain traction too.

Oh no doubt Paranormal Activity will be big. I'm seeing atleast $3.5M this weekend for it.

More will probably use it to sneak into Paranormal Activity ;).

I think The Stepfather will open with 15-20 Million. There's no way it makes that little total.

Law Abiding has a huge problem in it's marketing: It's hard to say what the film is about when it seems to cram three different story premises into one trailer. Maybe the TV-spots are more effective, haven't seen them. But having such a convoluted setup for a film is a bad thing if you want to reach mainstream audiences.

The Stepfather is the first PG-13 horror since Drag Me To Hell in May. Plus it's trailer has been shown, like, everywhere.

It should open over $10M.

Saw VI will make $45M tops.

I honestly believe PARANORMAL ACTIVITY will kill SAW at the theaters where both are playing. Lionsgate better hope it's in as few theaters as possible. I mean, SAW is getting old, and there's a hot new horror film that everyone is buzzing about. A lot of people would be more interested in PA, IMO.

Post subject:  Re: Weekday Numbers (10/5-10/8)

What do you mean by killing Saw? At this point I believe petty much everyone expects around $50 million gross, maybe eve less with the franchise being on a downward spiral from movie III. That alone will make it the lowest grossing Saw movie. It will be extremely frontloaded as these movies are becoming increasingly fast burners after opening weekend.

PA might hit it, but kill it is too strong of a word.

I just mean it will do even less than it usually does when it has the marketplace to itself horror-wise.

PA made $100,548 yesterday, which was up 22.1% from Tuesday and puts its total at
$1,033,628.
