Release Date: December 17, 2010
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Director: Martin Campbell
Screenwriter: Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green

Who is going to play Hal Jordan???? And the boxoffice potential is HUGE!!!

I'm going to take the safe route and say a final around $235M with an opening weekend take of $70M.

This is a somewhat known comic book character, and while it may not sound cool on the surface, believe you me they can make it look cool.
No reason this won't pass the december OW record of I Am Legend and hit 80m. It should also stabilize pretty well, I see 300m+ possible, but the 250m or so of IAL would be pretty good.
Finally a superhero flick in winter.

Outstanding script for starters; will be extremely marketable...the film hinges onthe casting of the main character, which we wont know for a little while.

The December record has a slight, as in tiny, puny-chance of going down, however with the wom itll get and release date, anything over 60 ensures a 250 million domestic total.

There are rumors circulating that Chris Pine (James T. Kirk from Star Trek) could be cast as Hal Jordan

hmm.... He could be good, but I'm hoping for a NAME! That would help this a lot, honestly I think up to 10m OW of Iron Man can be contributed to RDJ's comeback and people's interest in him.

i'm guessing 2m of that 100m came from people "interested in RDJ's comeback", and the rest thought he was perfect for the role based on the trailers (which he was).

I think there was another guy they were looking for Hal Jordan but I can't remember who it was right now. I think it was Sam Worthington but like I said I forget.

he would definitely bring the cockey attitude and natural charisma the character is supposed to have, but I'm not sure about the more somber and sincere side of the story/character, I wonder if he could pull that off?

Bump.

Films been moved to June, 2011. Ryan Reynolds is starring. Campbells put a pretty good cast together.

I see 65/225 at the moment.

The range of this is huge. Anywhere around $120-250 million, I'd say.

I agree on the range right now because it is too early to tell. All we have heard is that the script is good but that even I can write up and tell so :P

I think this will be 2011's real big break out hit.

1. May and June are weak for big actioners. May has Thor, which IDK if it will even do 100 million, and Pirates. June has Xmen, which will prob do 150 million or so. But thats its. We're talking 7 weekends into summer, and 2 movies with real big time appeal. Green Lantern, in 3D, in Mid June could be in an ideal situation to break out opening weekend.

2. Very marketable movie. Martin Campbell has tons of flair and an eye for money shots. Ryan Reynolds is a stud and in the Brendan Frasor mold, should have no trouble switching from comedy to action. Blake Lively is probably the hottest girl in a superhero movie ever. The script is very marketable, with a large but not too heavy sci fi feel, and plenty of action on Earth. But even beyond that, I feel this movie seems to have a very original cool factor comparable to the one that the first Batman movie had back in 1989. For example, say whatever you want about the costumes faithfulness, it looks like much cooler than I think many anticipated.

The trailer is going to air with Harry Potter this November, so it is going to get a shit ton exposure. It's already been on the cover of EW.

3. Script is marvelous. Its a serious popcorn blockbuster in vain of the first Spider-man movie.

If WB market this baby right-ignore the uber serious tone of Inception or TDKs plans and go for the action blockbuster aspect-,overload with tie ins, and all that jazz, I think this is going to be a big hit.

100/350 :D :D :D

I'm gonna have to say that WARNER BROS/DC Entertainment dropped the ball by not having any footage or really anything to offer for this character at COMIC-CON and so much that MARVEL overshadowed this.. I'm really gonna need to see some footage before throwing out a number on this..

Still too early but the range is still there. The trailer can give an insight as to how the movie has been treated and what is supposedly the marketing strategy.

Although I must emphasize that I absolutely love Martin Campbell and would never wish a flop for him. But I just think the odds for this project are not great. It looks too much like Marvel wannabe, and Marvel is here and active, so either give us something completely new and different, or get the hell outta here. And this has "Spider-Man: Now in Green (and in Space)" all over it. Not to mention the absolutely ridiculous villain.
