 The Expendables Predictions - $103,068,524
Release Date: August 13th Studio: Nu Image/Millennium Films Director: Sylvester Stallone Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Forest Whitaker, Eric Roberts, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lungdren, Mickey Rourke, Charisma Carpenter, Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger (cameo) Premise: "The Expendables" follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.
Time to predict this bad boy!
_______________________________________________________________________________
The April release date surprises me a bit...it strikes me more as a January/February release... Anyway, almost every male moviegoer above 30 will probably be up for this. Hell, the attendence will probably be made up of 80% males. I don't think how about legs...probably won't be great...but unless the marketing fucks it up, we're looking at a very strong opening here.
Statham is somewhat of a draw of his own and so is Jet Li. Stallone has regained some of his fans from the 80s and 90s with Rocky Balboa and Rambo. Mickey Rourke is also quite back into the spotlight with The Wrestler and this also seems to have appeal to WWE fans. The combo of all this factors should relsult in a pretty big first weekend demand. I guess the quality will decide the rest, but this will be frontloaded in any case. I hope it is successful enough for a sequel! (this time with Van Damme, Norris and Bruce Willis on board as well!)
My early predictions:
Opening Weekend - $29 million
Total Gross - $70 million

 Re: The Expendables Predictions!
So it looks like a spring release date as I thought. Yeah I agree with the Rocky Balboa numbers.Too bad they didnt use a major studio for distribution because it would have gotten more. Its rated R right?

I say move it up to April 9th. Nothing is there right now and the film will be assured not to get affected by Iron Man.
If they move it then....35m/90m like Gez said. Star power is just too BIG. Thats true. Hopefully when F&F is a hit in early April - they'll move it to the same slot.

Looks like it can get solid buzz from middle age males, 75m looks solid I guess, won't really know much for a year though.

Heh - I just discovered the full cast list. It's too awesome. I really hope it's a good movie, and that the cast can have a good synergy like in Predator. If so, this would be one for the ages. Hopefully Stallone keeps the Rambo-violent tone too. If all this happens, it would easily outdo Gran Torino.

 Re: The Expendables Predictions!
In all honesty, it worked well for the Scorpion King against Spiderman. Theres enough room for man with no shirts killing people against a superhero.
30 open/ 80 close. Could do 150+ overseas though.

He could be the extremely agile and nimble rotund person in the term just like when he had stunt men do his acrobatic feats

 Re: The Expendables Predictions!
yeah, this is gonna be like a bad-ass Ocean's movie... just probably not as good or widely appealing. But the impact of the starpower overload will help.

 Re: The Expendables Predictions!
You don't get fake tatoos on your chest for a movie and have a massive lean workout schedule if your not going to be shirtless at least once. Even if its just stallone, the veins and amount of oil in this movie are going to be absurd.

I dunno, I think it's kinda gross that a guy in his mid-60s can look like that. His body's gonna explode in a few years.
