5 weekends above $10 m for Paul Blart??? There isn't real competition for families other than The Jonas Bros movie, until Witch Mountain in 4 weekends, so it could potentially get to $150 m imo at this point. It's a stretch, but its possible.

Top 12 Total: $168,127,000

Biggest February weekend ever, biggest non-summer/holiday weekend ever.

adjfjkkjjkldguwtf

I mean, I'm guessing there's some overestimating here (The umps ARE smaller than 2004, so maybe they're hoping the drops will be too?), but still, shit.

And the legs on Taken and Paul Blart (And even Gran Torino) are like something from 1996. Are we gonna see a return to longevity or something?

We might, in a way, as smaller, less visible films take over for a while. I expect the big films to remain strongly frontloaded, but smaller films can gain more traction because there's more room for them to do so.

Does anyone know whether TWILIGHT expanded into Dollar houses or into regular theaters to take advantage of Valentines Day?

What a tremendously strong weekend.

Pretty crazy opening for Friday the 13th, although not unprecedented (Freddy vs. Jason did open to nearly $40M in 2003). Legs will be awful but it doesn't matter.

He's Just Not That Into You benefited hugely from Valentine's Day as expected. I have to give WB/NL props for taking a "troubled" project that was delayed for a long period of time, giving it the perfect release date and turning it into a likely $100M+ performer. It's still performing pretty similarly to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

Taken is absolute insanity with its legs. I saw the movie last night and can understand why it's doing these numbers, it's a huge crowd-pleaser. Probably a lock for at least $120M.

Confessions of a Shopaholic looks overestimated but still did rather well. A solid $50M total could be in order here.

Coraline is doing fabulously, that's nice to see. There's nothing left to say about Paul Blart, I am really out of things to say.

I expected more from The International, but I suppose $10M is an OK sum considering Taken is obviously the action flick of choice and Clive/Naomi have never really been box office draws.

Slumdog is still chugging along beautifully, it (and The Reader, to a smaller extent) is the only movie to receive any sort of Oscar bump. It's at $86.5M now, the question is how much past $100M it can get.

Taken is frickin amazing. Is this just the beneficiary of peculiar circumstances or is it really enjoying amazing WOM?

Impossible it is going to DVD in March. The studio could care less about trying to push it 13 million. They would make more off the DVD. This was a great weekend. We will have at least 3 20 million dollar films for the 4 days.

You know what's also amazing? My Bloody Valentine 3D INCREASED over the 3-day weekend despite not only losing theatres, but also facing direct competition from F13.

WOM for Taken has been amazing. It's at an 8.0 on imdb and every person i've talked to seems to love it

My audience clapped at the end last night (eh, don't get me started on clapping at movies). It was kind of like 24: The Movie, if Kim Bauer was sold as a sex slave (the daughter is even named Kim in the movie) and Kiefer was replaced with Liam Neeson.

each weekend has been better than the one before it. I'm afraid that Madea is gonna pull like a 40m OW or something next week.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/we ... p12sum.htm

Cracked the Top 20 weekends of all-time. Every other weekend was May-Jul or Nov-Dec. Which means that this was bigger than any August weekend ever, and better than all but one November weekend.

Psst...don't say that. Snack thinks that scary movies are worthless and their audience should pretty much die. Apparently, they pander to their audience. Well, rom-coms pander even more and unlike horror movies, their audience is almost exclusively one gender which makes the pandering even worse because it's sexist pandering. A lot of girls like and see horror movies. Saw V's audience was 52% female.

Amazing for F13, which I bet will have a sizable female audience, probably near or over 50%, unlike something like HJNTIY, which had a pathetic 80/20 ratio of female to male audience according to BOM.

Someday, they're going to make a romantic comedy in which the two leads chop each other's heads off instead of kissing at the very end. WHAT.WILL.YOU.DO.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Except maybe Neeson is even more of a badass than Kiefer is.
