Imagine Marvels kept the late July date - may have struggled to $100m.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
... to no one's surprise Spiderverse 3 moves off the calendar. Sony also moved Gran Turismo to August 25 (wtf) and moved off the Kraven the Hunter from October. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hollyw ... 47084/amp/

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Full details:
Kraven the Hunter - October 6, 2023 -> August 30, 2024 Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse March 29, 2024 -> Undated Ghostbusters December 20, 2023 -> March 29, 2024 Karate Kid June 7, 2024 -> December 13, 2024 They Listen (Blumhouse) August 30, 2024 -> Undated Madam Web February 16, 2024 -> February 14, 2024 Venom 3 Undated -> July 12, 2024 Bad Boys 4 Undated -> June 14, 2024 Gran Turismo Limited August 11/18 -> Wide August 25
Some of these are very strange. I think Karate Kid could do really well in the holiday corridor. Venom 1 and 2 did so well in October so July is a big risk.
Is Gran Turismo a wannabe Oscar contender or something? Seems like they feel it's a great quality movie for two weeks of limited screenings. Yet it feels like its being dumped last week of August which isn't a promising sign. Maybe to stay away from Barbenheimer?

Why is Kraven moving so far back lol?
Confirms It’s the next Morbius lol.
Demeter has its release date all to itself now. Bizarre.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Spiderverse and Ghostbusters we expected. The rest are all odd (and most aren’t heavy hitters).
Grab Turismo’s move is actually ok. Moves further away from Barbenheimer and TMNT/Trench but still close enough to recent marketing + has a long weekend in its second weekend.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
I kinda love the Kraven move, even if it was a bit craven. The movie was DOA in October. Wouldn't have even gotten #1 against Killers of the Flower Moon. Now Sony can hope that the soon to be barren 2024 schedule will restore interest in random superhero projects.
Madame Web on Valentine's Day has meme potential.
Nice to know that Will Smith's timeout has less than year to go.
RIP Spiderverse though I never liked the March date anyway.

I agree may as well hope superhero waters are calmer next year, there’s also a chance ATJ is Bond by then

I think the following would also benefit from moving:
Greek Wedding 3 - Thanksgiving A Haunting In Venice - october 20 Expendables 4 - summer The Creator - December 20 Marvels - depends on where Deadpool ends up, either May or July. Need a long break for Marvel. Trolls - I think this will do fine anywhere on the schedule so just get it away from Wish Next Goal Wins - Christmas time Chicken Run 2 - I dunno where to put it but Netflix should give this a run Aquaman - summer Rebel Moon - March and in theaters. I think Snyder can draw.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Good ideas here. I agree that we need a long break from the MCU, and the DCU. To that end, Aquaman 2 needs to come out soonest, the quickest we can start from a blank slate the better. Flava'd vs The World wrote: I think the following would also benefit from moving:

Same thing happened to Flash, I feel like frost trailer for Flash came out before WW1984 and the Batman. They should have just did the entire DCEU on Max, could have gotten Batgirl. They would have made the same, maybe more and saved 600-800 on marketing

Re: Release Date Change Thread
I feel like part of Flash's marketing campaign must have been PR specialists for Ezra and damage control. Their marketing for the film's efforts started as soon as he was first arrested probably.

Dude the flash comic con trailer came out in like April 2020. And heavily marketed during football and nba seasons. It was shelved for way too many stupid reasons. Could have come out in 2021! We could have had flash 2 this year.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
The Marvels not taking October 6 is insanely dumb. It could have premium screens and a month to itself.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Marvels won't be getting imax at all in its current date.
I wanna see it open in January now. Joker will get October its first $100M opener, so January will be the only month left without one. And yes I do think Marvels can still open that high.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Seeing ads for The Marvels already is odd. It's like they we're pre-scheduled with the original release in mind and never changed.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Bradley Cooper's Maestro gets a 1-month theatrical release from Nov 22. Then on Netflix from Dec 20.
Hopefully David Fincher's The Killer also gets a proper theatrical release.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
I know the parameters and interest levels are skewed to the hilt during awards season, but I really don't see anyone caring about Maestro. At least not enough to make any real money. It feels like $10m grosser in 30 days.
Now, The Killer should do much better.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Trolls should move to Dune's date. Being close to Disney's Wish makes no sense.
I'm shocked Aquaman is staying. I guess WB just wants to get it out of the way if it really is testing poorly.

Well at least everything else should stay now, but it’s a pity I was looking forward most to Dune rest of the year.
