Release date: October 3, 2008 Studio: MGM Synopsis: After disrupting one black-tie event by allowing a wild pig to run rampant, Sidney catches the attention of Clayton Harding (Jeff Bridges), editor of Sharp, and accepts a job with the magazine in New York City. Clayton warns Sidney that he'd better impress and charm everyone he can, if he wants to succeed. Instead, Sidney instantly insults and annoys fellow writer Alison Olsen (Kirsten Dunst). He dares to target the star clients of power publicist Eleanor Johnson (Gillian Anderson). He upsets his direct boss Lawrence Maddox (Danny Huston) and tries to make amends by hiring a stripper to dance for Lawrence during a staff meeting. Sidney, of course, doesn't stop there, finding creative ways to annoy nearly everyone. His saving graces: a rising, sexy starlet (Fox) develops an odd affection for him, and in time, Alison whose friendship with him might be the only thing saving Sidney from torpedoing his career. Opening: $4.5 million Total: $10 million Trailer is very badly edited. Story seems hard to get from watching the trailer. No noticeable draws in it. BOMB. |

It looks like the kind of movie that just doesn't do well in theatrical release. I'd say about $20M domestic. |

Has anyone seen the new TV spots? They barely show Pegg and instead focus almost exclusively on Megan Fox. Jeff Bridges is nowhere to be found and Dunst is only in one short part where she whacks Pegg in the leg. |

Megan Fox is clearly the centerpiece of MGM's marketing campaign, if the TV spot is to be believed. It's surely also the reason she's on the cover of GQ and Maxim this month. |

6.2/17.6 I think it'll be somewhat big, but even though all of Simon Pegg's movies are great, they just always fail at the B.O. |
