Over 200m makes sense, IM2 was already at it. 20m extra for this movie isn't bad at all, but it's by no means a good budget either. Which is irrelevant since the movie at bare minimum will make 700m+ WW.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Its already at 280 million overseas, the question is 1 billion or not.

It depends how it holds, but usually when a film explodes overseas it usually stays around for some time.

I think by being around 400 million by Sunday it should for certain cross 600 million and likley based on the domestic gross should cross a billion.

Its a decent number given the big cast and the action scenes in it could have done it below $190m. Regardless given the OS numbers it will be a huge success.

A lot of money went for paychecks there. TA is a sequel and I'm sure all leads got a nice salary bump for reprising their roles. Good budget when you tako into account you have a lot of lead characters.

Marvel does one thing well. Everytime they sign someone they make it a multi-movie contract so they can save cash on salary.

Many actors and actresses are signed for 3 or more movies.

They can sign on for multiple movies but the salary bump always happens for a sequel. I think it's partly regulated by guild.

But I'm sure that the bump is much smaller then when they have a new deal for each movie.

Probably. But I still think it's a hefty sum overall, because guilds pretty much ensure that nearly every returning cast/crew member gets a rise I think. That's why TV productions get overly expensive over years.

Looks like Charlie/Alice type of movie so an expected budget IMHO.

Saw the movie yesterday and it looked expensive. $150m still seems a little too high IMO, I thought $120m would have been a good budget, then again Depp's and Burton's fat checks could have easily been the cause.

100m would be a very good budget considering the talent, 150s too high for this limited a film. I have no idea how this'll do OS.

With CGI as shitty as the films got I imagine most of that was in paychecks.

Prometheus: $120-130m

A lot more reasonable than the $250m that was being thrown around earlier.

I still don't get how they need $120-$130m for an Alien type movie when Alien is still a good looking movie that was made on what would be a $40m budget nowadays.

Alien did not have huge CGI action scenes.

Isn't CGI supposed to be cheaper than practical effects anyway?

Dude, you're comparing a small '70s horror movie by a young director to a 2012 summer tentpole release. It's so apples and oranges, even if there's an amorphous franchise connection.

"God! Can't believe Attacks of the Clone cost so much more than A New Hope!"
