I think In the Name of the King got around 100,000 admissions. Alone in the Dark got less and nothing else was released theatrically (except Postal, but that was only limited).

Eh, I doubt anyone in general public knows him except for movie buffs and among them the opinions are similar.

However, I noticed that German movie critics are somewhat more lenient to give his films a passable grade than the American ones. But that's the only difference.

Hell, even I think now that we're better off with Boll's films than with the Friedberg/Seltzer productions.

Some videogame freaks hate him for screwing their games, that's all. He's way popular in the US. ALso, In the Name of King got heavily marketed (considering his name) and had a good release date.

Very very good increase for WALL-E (obviously helped by the national holiday on Friday and rainy weather). It could remain #1 next weekend as well. I think the minimum we're looking at at the moment is 2.8 million, but it will likely go beyond 3 million admissions and will end up in the Top 6 of the year or so.

Mamma Mia! is an absolute monster and is now #1 of the year. It won't remain this way as Quantum of Solace and Madagascar 2 will both overtake it IMO (it'll be a close race between those two for #1 of the year, I'd say), but I think Mamma Mia! has #3 locked up at this point.

Der Baader-Meinhof-Komplex is doing well, but I don't think it's the next Downfall in terms of success (certainly not in terms of quality or acclaim). It'll have good legs because it's adult-oriented and all, but I don't see more than 3 million admissions or so. Still great of course.

Burn after Reading's start is quite phenomenal and beyond all expectations. Really didn't see that coming.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan is already the 2nd-biggest Sandler flick in Germany ever, behind Big Daddy, showing that his starpower grew more and more here in recent years (Click and Chuck and Larry were both hits here as well

I think WALL-E can beat Panda. It should be at 2.1+ million by the end of the next weekend and there is no really major competition coming up, so I don't see why it shouldn't beat it.

Eh it is disappointing for Indy, but The Dark Knight performed very well and when it's finished it should be over 1 million ahead of the biggest Batman film before it and will have more than three times the admissions of Batman Begins. That is great for this market. Hell, it's bigger than all recent big comic book adaptations except for the Spider-Man flicks.

Yep it did great for what it is but after all the hype I expected at least 3m+. And WOM surely wasn't bad either.

Compared to Austria it did a bit disapointing, imo. I know people here are more theater friendly but still.

Posted last weekend's results.

Hellboy II had a great opening, over 50% bigger than the first film's start.

WALL-E is doing pretty good, but after Ratatouille got over 6 million admissions I still expected better. It will pass 3 million admissions eventually, I think, but it'l be a long crawl there.

Eagle Eye disappointed a lot, IMO, but then again, Disturbia flopped here completely as well.

Do you know average ticket price in Germany or any source with box office numbers in Euro? The problem is with boxofficemojo numbers, which are different from variety and hollywood reporter. For example they have HSM3 with 5.7 and 5.8 respectively and BoM has 6.44 million for opening weekend and I wonder which number is correct.

Eh, I'd go with 2.5 million. Because otherwise it'd mean that we had only 4 of these very successful hits this year which is definitely too little. Yes, you get the golden screen for 3 million, but I consider 2.5 million to be blockbuster status.

The blockbuster benchmark is 3m admissions. Sure some years it's less, some years there are more, but it won't stay at 4 this year. WALL-E will be there during the next two weeks and QUANTUM and MADAGASCAR are surefire blockbusters and who knows what other movie will surprise. So it's gonna be at least 7 movies above the 3m admissions mark...

(and THE BAADER MEINHOF KOMPLEX still has a chance to get there, it is at the 2.2m mark as of today)

I stopped calling $100m grossers blockbusters a long time ago. I only use the B-word for movies which will make it into the yearly Top Ten...

I wonder which movie will be #1 of the year in Germany. It will definitely be either Quantum of Solace or Madagascar 2, no question about that. But between these two it will be very close, I think they might finish within less than half a million admissions of each other, both with 5.5+ million admissions. What do you think? I'd give the slight edge to Madagascar 2, but not by much.

I have QOS at 6m and M2 somewhere between 6-7m. Close enough to have two different No. 1s for gross and admissions...

Unfortunately, there are no more wild cards left for the last two months. Everything else is gonna be lucky to reach the 2m mark...

Speaking of wild cards, CH'TIS did a surprisingly strong 135,000 admissions this weekend...
