I wonder will they make another Wlden Kerle movie or kids are getting to old for one more installment? Surprisingly also Sommer did pretty good with close to 1 mln admissions despite awful reviews. Jimmy Blue must be really popular among teen girls there.

Well, they said that Die Wilden Kerle 5 is definitely the last one.

Doc, I guess we opened the Pandora's box - now we'll start seeing more country-specific threads made by those countries' residents. :shades:

Thankfully not every country is represented here by someone, heh...

Din't the Raumschiff Surprise outgrossed Manitu in dollar terms? By the way, in Russia Raumschiff Surprise was translated as SPACE WATCH: EPISODE I  I guess it's pretty self-evident which movies they tried to capitalize on...

22. Papillon - 8,500,000 - is it the one with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman?

I don't know, but it'd surprise me, there were only 3 years between them and the gap in admissions is big...

I was gonna ask you to do that! That would be cool! Start this thread. There's a lot of things I'd like to talk about.

It should be noted that all movies in the all-time list prior to 1990 do not include East German results (even though only a few of them were released there anyway)

Yep.

I love that movie so much! Glad that it was so big there.

So, what German biggies we can expect in the rest of the year?

Local films or all films?

As for all - Madagascar 2 should be BIG because the first was huge here and very beloved for some reason. Expect 5+ million admissions.

Quantum of Solace
will do very well. All recent Bond flicks had admissions around 5-6 million, this will be the same.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will likely win the year with 7.5 million admissions or so. The last one got 7 million in the summer, this should be bigger thanks to the release date.

Ratatouille was big here and very beloved. WALL-E is getting great marketing, so I see around 4-6 million admissions for it too.

As for local films, Der Baader-Meinhof Komplex will probably rule...very high profile film.

And just to remember this:

FOTR, Harry Potter 1 and Der Schuh des Manitu (all in the Top 7) were released in the same year.

That's the same as if The Phantom Menace, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Spider-Man were released in the very same year...

No, not much. Begins was the worst Batman film admissions-wise in Germany...TDK will do better, but won't be huge.

Wow, I never though Pretty Woman would appear in the all-time top 25 admissions list of any country, or a huge country for that matter.

Romantic comedies are fairly big in Germany, no?

Perhaps, but I certainly did not expect it above huge blockbusters, especially RotK.

Yep, just like I said in my first post. Especially with the right stars, they are huge.

What Women want was #4 of 2001, only behind Manitu, Potter and FOTR. Two Weeks Notice, Runaway Bride, Notting Hill and some others all made the Top 10 of their respective years.
