Re: Nov. 30th - Dec 2nd Predictions
Excellent tracking for all except Awake and Alvin and the Chipmunks. They really need to crank up the ads if they want a success.
I wonder how many films can avoid a 50% decrease, seeing as this is the weakest Post-Thanksgiving weekend since like, 2000. Bewowulf could do it simply thanks to IMAX (Mediocre WOM be damned), nd Enchanted might thanks to WOM, but it seems a little frontloaded. Oh, and NCFOM will be interesting to see, as Art House WOM clashes with Regular Joe WOM.

Re: Nov. 30th - Dec 2nd Predictions
I'm surprised by the low tracking for Alvin and the Chipmunks considering the name value. I thought it would do at least Garfield numbers.

Theres time for Alvin. It will climb. And even a $15m opening could mean $60-$70m+ total.

I'm shocked at the tracking number for Chipmunks. I saw at least four TV spots for it yesterday.

Same here. I think it will probably make pretty good money, which sucks since I think it looks horrid.

Re: Nov. 30th - Dec 2nd Predictions
I don't think it looks awful, though it's nothing I'd go out of my way to see. I may see it because of Christmas break and me having extra time on my hands.

I'm anxioulsy waiting to see what Enchanted is going to do. So far is has underwhelmed me, but I still have this gut feeling that it's going to have a really great run. I guess this weekend should be the deciding weekend.

Enchanted would've impressed a lot more people if this forum hadn't been enslaved by tracking.

underwhelmed? you underwhelmed?????are you serious? yes; its the latest in a long line of BIG breakout hits in 2007; but get real. no stars? check. corny? check. confusing trailers? check. no male appeal? check. 2d cartoon? check. for real; on paper i dont see anything that would justify a 45 million TOTAL; let alone 5 day gross.

for real; on paper i dont see anything that would justify a 45 million TOTAL; let alone 5 day gross. How about Hilarious Trailers. Oscar Buzz on Adams. Alan Menkin. The return of 2D animation from Disney. Retro Fanboys Musical. I could go on.

Not that half the points Scott makes don't strike me as valid so much as mirroring the silliness you said, but that's even worse than Magnus trying to convince anyone but himself that tracking doesn't make things less surprising.
