Screamers played at AMC 30 The Block sometime after Halloween last year...for about a week.

Random.

Post subject:  Advance Sales Update - Lexington, KY

Smokin' Aces - 7
Epic Movie - 5
Pan's Labyrinth - 4
Catch & Release - 1 (an old lady, I believe)
Blood & Chocolate - 0

Solid for Aces, but Epic Movie is considerably below Date Movie. That's a very good number for Pan's, but not surprising since we've had many requests for it. Don't really have a read on Catch, while Blood & Chocolate could indeed be a stinker.

Do you think Blood and Chocolate will do about Reelsources tracking of 2 million?

Blood/Choc and Smokin' Aces both have ads on Moviefone. I'm positive that is why they have shown up there. Epic Movie doesn't have any ads and it's been there for a while. Epic Movie will pull in decent numbers this weekend.

Smokin' Aces
Time: 8:05
Theater Size: 300
Capacity: Sold Out

Trailers
Ghost Rider
The Number 23
Shooter
Dead Silence
Sunshine

Movie
Energetic and often fairly entertaining, but ultimately rather slight. The plot ends up being too complicated for a film that doesn't earn the right to go off in that many tangents - a weak conclusion and a lame twist ground the film to a halt after a stirring middle section. Smokin' Aces also seemed confused about what it was trying to be; some of the actors in the movie act like they're in a dark comedy and the others act like this is Shakespeare. The eclectic cast doesn't really have much to do, and none of them ever really develop much, but there are some standouts. Ryan Reynolds is surprisingly effective at playing it straight, while Jeremy Piven is believable as a strung-out druggie and Alicia Keys is a natural screen performer (and watch out for Jason Bateman in a hilarious cameo). If all of Smokin' Aces had been as good as the middle section, it would deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Tarantino or even something like Lucky Number Slevin. As it is, it's only an average effort. C+

Saw 2 movies today with 4 more tomorrow (Epic Movie, Smokin' Aces, Pan's Labyrinth, Catch and Release)

Blood and Chocolate - 20% full in 150-seater @ 5:15

Trailers - Premonition, The Namesake, Sunshine, Hannibal Rising

Film - Not as bad as it looked but still excessively cliche and tiresome.

Grade - C-

Notes on a Scandal - 30% in 150-seater @ 7:05

Trailers - The Namesake, The Lives of Others, History Boys

Film - I'm speechless. The film is unbelievably fantastic. I'm surprised at how good it was. I mean, I expected it to be decent because of Dench and Blanchett but it surpassed expectations. One of the best movies of last year.

Grade - A

6 movies in 2 days?!

Just the thought of that makes me nauseous, I feel like I would get motion sickness or something.

Two is the max I can pull in one day, three if I'm visiting relatives and I need to get away. It just gets so tiring to sit through so many films in one day.

One a day is enough for me. Probably the most ive done is 3 in 3 days - Volver, Casino Royale (2nd view) and Blood Diamond.

Notes on a Scandal sounds good!

4 is the most I've ever done in a single day although I did 11 movies over 3 days back in November, 8 of them being part of the After Dark Horrorfest.

Fron notfabio, as of 9:30:

EPICM is skewing pretty much tweenyboppers and young teens
and should be super mega frontloaded

It can still do another 300 people (about $3000)

SMKAC is not far behind and is skewing as expected 20 something crowd

BCHOC
114 $1012

BDMND
66 $627

CTRLS
401 $3345

DPRTD
213 $1804

EPICM
715 $6445
754 $6715

DRMGL
129 $103
192 $1593

NOTES
152 $1196

QUEEN
129 $1046

SMKAC
566 $5106
642 $5810

As of 10:30:

A relatively close 2 million margin looks like it may be possible this weekend. SMKAC definitely is not Lucky Number Slevin 2.

EPICM
715 $6459 final
744 $6616 (can do as much as $2600 more)

SMKAC
602 $5423 (can do as much as $1800 more)
760 $6974 final

So how is that for Blood and Chocolate? Catch and Release?

Judging by Rolling Thunder's report, Yahoo reviews, and quite a few reports on the IMDB message board of packed or sold out showings, it seems that Epic Movie is performing quite well tonight. I always thought that would it be quite a success with the pre-teen demographic, but I'm still ashamed of their interest in this film. They should know better.

I'm not the best at interpreting his numbers, but both look lousy - especially Blood & Chocolate.

What spoof will Fox and "2 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie" release next January? I'm hoping for Sports Movie since inspirational sports dramas are practically crying out for parody.

Wonder if B & C will make more or less than the 2 million most predicted.

I remember a few years back they were going to make one of the Scary Movie films into a fantasy/sci-fi spoof film about LOTR/Star Wars/Harry Potter - but that didnt happen.
