Mother's Day was quite kind to all films, especially Poseidon, Mission: Impossible III and RV. Akeelah also had a huge increase from estimates.

Nice to see such huge jumps from the estimates for once. Guess the Mother's Day effect was underestimated.

Goodness, look at RV. This really points to a huge opening for Over the Hedge, I think.

When I saw Poseidon, it was actually sold out.

I think it was helped by Mother's Day and likely extremely positive word-of-mouth.

Akeelah had a $500 increase in PTA from last weekend and it increased from Saturday to Sunday. Must have been a huge Mother's Day film, though with such a massive theater loss, I'm really surprised.

I think Poseidon will pass $60M. The massive theatre count, summer weekdays and the upcoming holiday will help.

Akeelah is mind boggling.

RV, American Haunting, United 93, Ice Age, Hoot (still a tank) and Akeelah all had fantastic drops.

If anyone cares anymore....Will V For Vendetta scrape past $70,000,000? It currently sit's at $69,739,359 after a $175,000 weekend?

Go Akeelah...?

Just a little too late to generate a good total gross, but still impressive...

Has it hit the dollar theatres yet?

Terrific for RV. Hopefully Over The Hedge won't completely decimate it next week.

Not a bad hold for MI:3 either, though with Da Vinci and X3 opening in the next couple of weeks, I don't see it doing much better than $120-130 million total. A devastating number given the expectations.

"RV" is getting incredible word of mouth as well. At the theater I work at everyone that comes out all say how funny it was and how they can't wait for the DVD to come out. I have hardly heard anyone say they didn't like it. It's getting tons of older folks too, I guess that is helped by Robin Williams.

RV once again proves that when it comes to comedies (specially family comedies), you only need a big star to make a big sum at the box office... reviews mean zero in these cases...

Seems plausible and just what Williams' career needed after not having a success (either critically or financially) since 2002 with the double dose of Insomnia and IOne Hour Photo.

Akeelah is simple, they took it out of the theatres/areas no-one was seeing it in.

Nice increase for Poseidon, but it's still going to be the biggest flop of the year unless SR totally falls flat on its ass.

Great increase for Poseidon, pulling a 3 multiplier is good for the film. I still think it may be able to pull 70 and maybe double that overseas.

MI3's hold is not good. All the holdovers did well, and that's a large drop by comparision. It won't reach 130m since the frontloading will catch up with it especially with TDVC suffocating it. It reminds me of when Tomb Raider 2 had a good hold because it was one of those weeks. Not that TR2 had great WOM or anything like it.

Nice to see POSEIDON being successful in it's small foreign launch.

Poseidon made $4,340,000.

"To curb piracy, Poseidon launched in a few Asian markets before the movie's big push in June, and the results were generally in the range of Troy and The Day After Tomorrow. The disaster picture was a strong No. 1 in Thailand with $1.2 million from 220 screens, while Singapore and India were also outstanding with $867,000 from 60 screens and $775,000 from 175 screens, respectively. Malaysia ($514,000 from 70) and Indonesia ($331,000 from 70) were solid as well, but the picture was a little disappointing in the Philippines with $609,000 from 145 screens."

Good sign, i think it can make $60M-$70M domesitc, and double it internationally. Coming close to $200,000,000 worldwide.
