When I say "BOTTOM OUT" I mean, either TANK at the box office or be Extremely Disappointing and something tells me, this movie is probably more suited as a Novel than as a movie and generally, Movie Adaptations spawned by Best Selling Novels tend to Disappoint and that's what I see happening with this movie... Not to mention the fact, the Boycotting and Bad WOM this is receiving from the Catholics will not bode well for this movie.. So who's in?? Who here thinks this highly overrated novel turned big screen motion picture will be Extremely Disappointing box office wise or flat out TANK?? ![]() |

Controversy= $$$$$ No way this will make less than $200M. The awareness is through the roof and the anticipation level is pretty much up there!. theres no question in my mind that it will be huge |

What's your exact prediction, BKB? For all we know, it can make $175 million and you'd call it a complete disappointment, so at least we'll have a number set in stone... |

Actually BKB, after reading part of the book, I'd say this is better as an action movie. The entire time I read it I could see how it would play out better on screen. Da Vinci Code is going to do fabulously, and we should expect Angels and Demons to hit theatres within the next two years I bet. |

It will not bomb, it will do around 150-170. |

Will make over 200 mil. with relative ease. The tracking is too high to ignore. |

I would like it to bomb - but it wont. It will actually edge towards $300m |

The book is lame. Simple Story with some mystique mixed in. Very simple structure I thought. And I hope people will see that. So I hope to see huge drops. So far I say 70/170. This can also be huge of course...but for me that would be just another proofe than you can hype and advertise the shit out of everything. Like it was made with the book btw. |

Its a hard basis to prove. National Treasure was able to make 180 million just by being a Davinci Code clone when majority of people were underpredicting it. You also have the controversy going on about the movie plus it being adapted from a best seller. And I dont see the combo of Tom Hanks and Ron Howard bombing at all So you are wrong this time |

National Treasure was for grown ups. I took my mother and aunt to see this movie and we love Nicholas Cage. He is such a dish! |

I'm just not feeling this so called "BUZZ" as your all referring to about this movie, not 1 peep, not 1 mention of it anywhere, even when I went to MI:3.. This is going to be an example of a Best Selling book not adapting as well to the screen as it does a Novel.. As for my prediction of this?? All predictions will come on Friday Night at 8:00 PM when I can get a better view of RONNIE'S 20 CINE Parking Lot.. |

What happens if Ronnie's parking lot is closed down for construction? |

You say 'tank' but give no numbers. I'd have to say if this film failed to get to $150mil that it would be a failure in my opinion. $150-180, under expectations. $180-210, ok $210-240, good $240-300, very well $300-up excellent! |

You want the truth of it?? The answer is "No".. I don't feel ANY movie this year is going to do well, with maybe the exception being X3.. As a matter of fact, I think the box office in general for this year PERIOD is going to be poor and putrid to the point where people are simply content with waiting for the movie's to come out on DVD and are sicking of shelling out the $$$ to go see a movie that'll be out in 2 months on DVD.. The Death of Cinema is coming in the future to where this will be an option: Movie's will be made and released straight to DVD and PPV for the moviegoer to order without any of the hassles of going to a movie theatre.. Now where's my Column at??? |

IS it just me or is this film hard to predict? This is one of the first films where im scared to even throw an estimate out in my head much less on a forum. Normally I will normally have at least some idea but forwhatever reason im baffled. It's basically set in stone to make a 30-40 mill opening weekend minimum but I could also seeing it have a huge 80m weekend as well. The flick has huge buzz and contreversary which usally equals $$$$$. I can easily see a formidable international gross to the sum of over 400 million but in the states I find this one unpredictable at least withing a 10 million range. Sure, I could throw out an estimate but I wouldn't feel confident about it so ill give you this.... Davinci Code... OW - 40-80 Dom - 150-325 Intl - 300-600 WW - 450-925 ...... yeah I know..... |
