I don't know ... i have no real lgical reason but i just don't think this film will do as well as everyone thinks it will. oh well. |

Nah. The Da Vinci Code can still make $150 million from a $40 million opening, which is the absolute minimum I see for the opening weekend. I don't think it'll reach those $300+ million expectations, but less than $150 million is just as unlikely. |

I'm in. I think it tries to look too thrilling when it's probably not even close to what National Treasure had. It probably makes a nice book, but not the type of movie people reeally want to see. Plus it is about religion, which most likely disinterests a large group, especially when it's about lie theories of religions. I'm not totally sure on what it's about though, never read the book. |

$150 m really is pennies for even wannabe blockbusters nowadays with it happening so often. Heck, in 2002 it happened 13 times. Going under $150 m would give Da Vinci Code fewer admissions than films like Batman and Robin. Yes, people can despise the film, but box office wise, this film has huge, huge potential, much past the benchmark. |

For what was supposed to be a hugely disappointing year and summer season, that's an awful lot. Think about what an actual successful summer might be able to do. Inflation just makes it so much easier. To get 9 $150 m films just in the summer shows just how much easier it has gotten to reach that level. For Da Vinci to not make it to $150 m, it would end up finishing near the bottom of the top 15 of the year, which I just don't see happening. |

This'll make more than 200 million with relative ease. |

Joe wrote: This'll make more than 200 million with relative ease. Agreed, but all things considered, it will have a rather subdued opening in contrast to the hype - somewhere in the neighborhood of $55-60M. |

With only one million for every week the book sat atop some best siller list, the movie would make aproximately 6ixty billion and a half dollars. In aka words, you're insane. 750 million or bust. PS, siller is Japanese for seller. |

Superman Returns and MI3 are more likely to finish under 150 million then The Da Vinci Code. |

Legs would probably have to be complete shit for this to happen. Even with a opening in the low 40's it'll have 150m. |

As much as Im against what the book stands for and its fiction trying to pass for fact - I think some of you guys are way off on this one. This book (unfortunatley) has been read by more people than almost any other released in the last couple of decades. Ive heard more people say they want to see it than any other film since atleast ROTS. Its more likely as Trixter says to make $300m+ than under $150m. Even though id love to see it flop. If anything once the dust settles on 2006 - this could be the highest grosser of the year. |

Thats funny because i sent a text message out to a few of my friends asking who wants me to pre book The Da Vinci Code tickets for opening night and i got 11 replies almost instantly asking me to do so, i only asked 14. All of my friends, my family and my freinds families have expressed massive interest in seeing this film. On top of those people, I believe my college is taking the entire media section to see it a few weeks after release...with exception of our class ![]() Everything around me online AND in real life is screaming that this movie will be a huge hit. Its very rare that happens offline, I believe the matrix reloaded, star wars and lord of the rings are the last times that it happened on such an obvious scale. |
