Friends With Money held up really impressively. The PTA went down by less than $2,000 despite adding 14 theaters. |

8 10 THANK YOU FOR SMOKING FoxS $4,450,000 +92.7% 1,015 +716 $4,384 $11,498,000 5 Decent. Not wowing, but decent. 15 18 FRIENDS WIH MONEY SPC $805,000 +36.6% 42 +14 $19,166 $1,600,000 2 Insane. What the hell is Aniston's pull? 20,000 pta in 42 theatres is really good. This movie needs to expand north of 200 next weekend. N/A 24 BRICK Focus $233,000 +16.9% 45 +24 $5,177 $634,000 3 Meh. 5,000 pta isn't bad, but its not stellar. Should jump to 800 theatres next wekeend the way Kung Fu Hustle tried to do, and just ride it out early. N/A N THE NOTORIOUS BETTIE PAGE PicH $145,000 - 20 - $7,520 $145,000 1 Unimpressive considering how much buzz there was around this film earlier. N/A N KINKY BOOTS Mira. $81,100 - 9 - $9,011 $81,100 1 Unimpressive. But people are getting tired of "cute" U.K. sex comedies, maybe? N/A N HARD CANDY Lions $60,000 - 2 - $30,000 $60,000 1 Surprisingly low. I thought it would be closer to 38,000. Don't know what that means. |

Could Scary Move 4 be the first $40M+ opener that will miss the $100M mark? |

SM4 is almost a lock to be the first $40m opener to not make $100m. That IM is just awful, and there's no evidence showing that it can pull off a higher multiplier than the third (which had Halloween to increase its legs). |

I'm gonna say it would have been the first 40+ to miss 100 but the actuals will have it just under 40. ***I just looked in disbelief and horror how out of 51/96 votes gave the film an A. BOM user quality must really be shyte to explain that result*** |

I didn't know the Weinsteins took the SM4 rights from Dimension. I'm so out of touch. ![]() I'm disappointed in Kinky Boots and Brick. Otherwise a very unremarkable start for pretty much everything. |

Hopefully the actuals stay above $40M. That huge Saturday drop does not bode well. |

Brick is officially struggi-ling. What a shame. Hard Candy's opening is kinda disappointing, actually. One of the two theaters it was in this weekend was the Arclight (same as Brick's opening weekend), so I was expecting a similar opening weekend PTA. The Notorious Bettie Page is also a letdown. Sucks for those of us who were hoping it would expand to their area. Kinky Boots looked terrible, so no real surprise there. |

SM4 still has some room to drop a little more Sun and still reach $40m. It can drop around 43-44% and still reach it. Either way, it will likely be the highest opening movie to not reach $100m. |

I don't see why people think it's over a million overestimated. The Sunday drop looks normal considering how much audience it lost on Saturday. |

The drop next week will be bad, but it wont be as bad as some think (ie 70-80%). The long weekend is just skewing the number down quite a bit. Fri $5.7 m -70% Sat $7.125 +25% Sun $3.92 -45% Next weekend: $16.74 m -59.2% |

13 N LA MUJER DE MI HERMANO Lions $1,025,000 - 205 - $5,000 $1,025,000 1 Pretty impressive for a foreign film. And.. 15 18 FRIENDS WITH MONEY SPC $805,000 +36.6% 42 +14 $19,166 $1,600,000 2 Pretty impressive, period. It will become Nicole Holofcener's highest grossing film, by far. |

Hmmm, I thought LA MUJER DE MI HERMANO would do better considering the performance at my theater. Let's see if my theater was the highest grosser for that movie. |

The Hollywood Reporter Quote: Bob and Harvey Weinstein returned to the boxoffice lead as "Scary Movie 4" debuted with about $41 million, the first No. 1 opening for the new company founded by the former Miramax bosses. It was the best Easter weekend debut ever, beating the $30.1 million opening of "Panic Room" in 2002, according to studio estimates Sunday. With the success of "Scary Movie 4," Bob Weinstein said he hopes to have a fifth film in the horror-spoof franchise in theaters over Easter weekend next year. |
