She's The Man passes $30M.

Ice Age II is only down 35% from last Monday. Not bad.

I actually think it is a bit poor (although with the sequel factor it's acceptable). More schools are out this week, and the original was down only 18% Monday-Monday at the same point. The Friday increase will be much lower.

Yeah, but how many schools are actually on break? All the schools around here had their spring breaks last month (it keeps getting earlier and earlier).

Joy

Another good hold for V for Vendetta. It's had strong Mondays and weekdays all along, but can it break back into the top five during the week? I know a lot of people are finally going to see it during Spring break.

Only down 46% from last weekend, despite dropping about a third of it's theaters. Not the cross-over blockbuster I wanted it to be, the boycott by right-wing hate radio and TV hosts has hurt it, with groups of people condemning it for being "Anti-Christian" before even viewing it. A guy at work told me he heard it is the work of satan. But nearing $63 million US it's made it's money back, and Vendetta continues the trend of popular but off-beat comic book adaptations. The dvd sales will be high for this one.

Not doing good at all so far overseas, especially compared to "Sin City" or even "Constantine." Maybe the idea of terrorist bombings hit too close to home for the audience, and they didn't appreciate the satire. Or people just prefer the laughs from the improbable antics of cartoon animals and doofus Pink Panther.

Overall box office problem: Not enough action, too many ideas. WarnerBRos should have advertised it on lefty political blogs, to counteract the boycott.
