Well, this is turning out to be a boring night. At least Scary Movie 4 is coming out next week, which promises lotsa crowd reports...

Matinee Report.

Benchwarmers
12:00 - 31
12:45 - 23
2:25 - 66
3:00 - 46
4:40 - 57
5:15 - 42
5:45 - 81
(Great so far, should do at least 15 million for the weekend).

Take the Lead
12:00 - 19
1:00 - 22
2:50 - 38
4:00 - 37
5:35 - 110
(Wow, it looks like it will do great at night. If this holds, and 15 million minimum weekend is to be in store.

Lucky Number Slevin
1:10 - 15
2:25 - 17
4:10 - 22
5:20 - 20
(On par with Slither so far, but it could do better elsewhere cause this more adult driven)

Phat Girls
12:30 - 1
1:25 - 7
3:00 - 6
4:20 - 10
5:30 - 5
(I knew it wouldn't do anything here, but let's see where it does in the south).

When do we Eat?
2:10 - 10
4:50 - 2
(When do we eat? certainly not now).

Also, Ice Age is not holding on well. I think Friday sales could get sliced by at least half, and Saturday will make up for it.

All in all, it was okay, but it certainly will not come anywhere near last week spectacular results.

The Benchwarmers - 4/7/06
6:15pm showing
100% full (88-seat auditorium)

TRAILERS
Click (lots of laughs)
Little Man (laughs and talk)
X-Men: The Last Stand (lots of talk)
The Break-Up (some laughs)
Nacho Libre (lots of laughs)

It was alright but could've definitely been better. Also, my theater made the stupid mistake of putting this on ONE screen in an extremely small 88-seater (at the same time when Phat Girlz is in a 466-seater) --- the 6:15, 8:30, and 10:50 shows all sold out, and the one I was in even had people sitting on the steps.

Well, I did say that The Benchwarmers was underpredicted. It could make $20 million this weekend.

Seriously, the person who made that decision should have the loss of gross deducted
from their pay. Or be fired.

Indeed.

Oh and btw, Benchwarmers is playing in the 400 seaters at my theater (and Take the Lead is in the 300 seaters).

I think LEAD will do better than BENCHWARMERS. It seems to have more appeal and BENCHWARMERS looks terrible.

I saw the 12:25 showing of Lucky Number Slevin tonight. It was around 25% full in a 300-seater, which is not bad. I missed the trailers. The film was pretty great, though. Really fun, full of twists, and some good performances from a great cast.

It's not like I'm saying it will fail because I think it looks terrible. I just don't think it will have a lot of appeal. It's another baseball comedy, wow. I see Fever Pitch numbers. Bad News Bears didn't exactly do anything special.

nothing extremly exicting from my place..

10pm Slevin sold out in a 300 seater
10pm Phat girlz sold out in a 400 seater
10pm Take the Lead only sold 150 in a 300
9 and 10pm Benchwarmers only sold about 75 in each showing

ATL dropped 65%... on par with Madea
Ice Age actually only dropped 35% which is good for us
Inside Man only dropped 20%

Basically nothing happened until out 10pm set...very boring night compared to the last few weeks

Lucky Number Slevin - 4/8/06
2:10pm showing
60% full (157-seat auditorium)

TRAILERS
Art School Confidential (silent)
See No Evil (silent)
Little Man (laughs)
The Sentinel (some talk)
Pulse (silent)

Very good movie --- lots of laughs and action. No reaction at the end from the crowd though....

8:10pm showing
80% full (466-seat auditorium)

TRAILERS
Dreamgirls (some talk)
Click (laughs and talk)
Hoot (silent)
Waist Deep (some talk)

This one was surprisingly a very, very good movie --- lots of great music, dancing, and comedy. There was some clapping at the end and what appeared to be an extremely positive reaction at the exit.

Sellouts tonight:
ATL - 10:10
Ice Age: The Meltdown - 7:00 I 8:00
Phat Girlz - 9:55
Stay Alive - 10:05
Thank You for Smoking - 7:35 I 10:15
The Benchwarmers - 6:15 I 8:30 I 10:50 (yep, this one STILL played in one very small theater and sold out every show tonight)

Lucky Number Slevin
5:40 show, 400-seat auditorium, 70% full.

Trailers
Pulse
United 93
See No Evil
Poseidon
The Sentinel

Movie
Lucky Number Slevin is an effectively twisty and entertaining. It has its fair share of flaws, but it's entertaining and clever enough that it's not always easy to determine all of the film's twists. Josh Hartnett is fine as Slevin, presenting a likeable persona without losing the character's edge. Lucy Liu is wonderful as love interest Lindsey; it's nice to see a female character in a thriller who doesn't turn out to be evil or have some other agenda for once. Bruce Willis gives a nicely understated performance as the mysterious Mr. Goodcat, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley inject some special kind of class into the whole thing, but Stanley Tucci is criminally underused. The film is very funny in spots and just ends up being pretty entertaining. Definitely a positive surprise for me. B

Atl increased big today, with the 8:20 getting 70% full in the 160 seater.

Inside Man got over 70% full for the two night shows so far (160 seaters).

The rest is not worth mentioning.

But finally, the sneak preview of Kinky Boots, got prepare to laugh, 13 patrons (no this is not a joke). This is worse sneak performance ever.

All in all, we were not as busy as we hoped for, looks like we're back in normal territory.

Atleast Ice Age II increased well. Hopefully, it can make around $34-35 million for the weekend.
