Well its holding pretty much better than everyone else predicted, its not smashing yes, but its above what was expected. Most had it at like 9.3 or 9.4 or somewhere around there, some were in the 8.5 area. It should get over 10 I presume.

Penguins is likely to outdo Cry Wolf for the frame now.

Damn. I don't like the one, two positions. Flightplan really didn't call my name in the least, and I'm surprised it appealed to so many people. I guess new audiances aren't up to snuff on their Hitchcock, or the tension might have not been so tight. That Corpse Bride figure is incredibly shocking to me. I think it'll have a big saturday increase because matinees for youths will up the ante.
Anyone know the pta for History of Violence?

Whats bizarre is that on its second friday, Just Like Heaven looks like its just inched past 13 Going on 30's first WEEKEND. That puts it in perspective how not great this movie is doing

Pretty good for Flight Plan but I'm a bit suprised with Corpse Bride's number as well. I'm expecting a nice Saturday increase and good legs. It will be a nice profitable hit for Warner Brothers in the long run.

Wow. just Like Heaven dropped very hard.
I mean; 13 Going on 30 had Mean Girls as direct competish. This has nothing and yet it still fell nearly 50% on Friday. With a weak weekend multiplier likely in store its run is not good at all. This will probobly make less than "13" now despite costing $20m more to make alone.

It took JLH over a week to break even with "13"s first weekend, when you think of how people called "13" dissapointing last year i think that highlights the fact that whilst reese witherspoons career isnt over; this movie is a major dissapointment.

It also makes me worried for next years Female anchored movie Catch and Release which also dosent really have a strong male star; hopefully they will push the ensemble aspect.

See, a lot of these chick flicks have a plateau when they have NO male appeal. There's a reason Guess Who, Mean Girls, Sweet Home Alabama and these movies that both genders can appeal to make so much more then films like Miss Congeniality 2, Just Like Heaven, and 13 Going on 30. Same rule applies with action movies.

I think thats part of the reason 13 is beating Just Like Heaven at this point. 13 had much more male appeal. Garner clutching her breasts, the 80s feel of it, Billy Idol the most manly music on the planet playing in the background of the commercials. Just Like Heaven was completley female, I think it was 77% female on the first weekend, which equals 12.5 mil or so, just from the females. When you consider females vs females, Just Like Heaven blows 13 out of the water. Its just 13 was able to beat it by having another gender added to it's gross.

Very good for Flightplan. Actually, I never believed Foster was a draw until now. I thought the successes of Panic Room & Contact were because of Fincher & Zemeckis.

Good for Corpse Bride. With that opening, it will make more than Nightmare Before Christmas.

And for the second week in a row, I'm fooled by the performance of A Constant Gardener. Last week I predicted a 38% drop. When it fell 23%, I predicted a 27% fall this week. After the Friday number, I think it will fall about 35%.

Good to hear all these positive comments about In Her Shoes. I thought the trailer was pretty lame, but I believed in Curtis Hanson.
