The Saturday increase is low for all movies which is normal for a Saturday during the 4th of July weekend.

BOM and Showbizdata are probably having a "taste great less filling" yelling contest with each other

acually this is kind of abnormal, back in 94 the films acually experienced better saturday increases than they did the wknd before over the 4th of July wknd :???: kind of weird considering the films were all so affected by WOTW :???:

Aherm, Live 8
Over 2 billion people stayed in to watch it. A sizable amount - likely Americans.

Funnily enough the sun trusted a news reporters mistake to print that 5 BILLION PEOPLE WATCHED IT, which is of course bollocks.
It reached 5 billion viewers, and roughly half of them watched it.

BJ, there is some impact from Live8 and early fireworks shows held on Saturday and Sunday by some communities, which is a more recent trend.

If this holds, Batman Begins had a great Saturday, regardless if its Friday is 5.3 or 4.5. 17-18M for the 3-day weekend. Rebound and Land of the Dead still killed me, even though I thought I went reasonably low on them. ](*,)

I saw a little bit of it on TV yesterday but I don't think it had any effect on the box office here in the US. I can't think of anyone who would sit inside the house for eight hours straight to watch a concert. I mean if people planned on a seeing a movie yesterday, the concert was on all day so it wasn't like they were going to the show if they a 2 hr movie.

WOM is phenomenal for the film. It is as good as or better the Batman Begins which is a good reason why its legs have been so strong.

Also it's the most female friendly of the major blockbusters.

If those estimates hold up, great increase for Batman, pretty crappy for the rest.
