It released in Singapore theaters on Nov 3rd and I generally repeat watch movies in theaters. Kubo was good and just about equal to Zootopia. YN I would place higher than both.

That's great :hahaha:, I would've done the same if the plot wasn't so mediocre, but a third place isn't bad either.

December Release Schedule (Wide Releases and Notable Films)

[Theater Count]: <100 (limited); >100 (wide); 200+ (moderate); 300+ (significant); 350+ (optimal)

12/03, [269] - Ranmaru: The Man with the God Tongue (Shochiku)
12/10, [356] - A Man Called Pirate (Toho)
12/10, [316] - Monster Strike: The Movie (Warner Bros.)
12/10, [315] - Kamen Rider Heisei Generations: Dr. Pacman vs. Ex-Aid & Ghost (Toei)
12/16, [369] - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Disney)
12/17, [360] - Yo-Kai Watch: The Flying Whale and the Grand Adventure of the Double Worlds, Nyan! (Toho)

12/23, [199] - Pop in Q (Toei)
12/23, [171] - Pete's Dragon (Disney)

A strong December is upon us, and a final month that's likely to cement 2016 as the biggest year of all time in terms of revenue and the most attended year since 1974.

The month has four ¥5 billion+ (~$50 million+) contenders:

A Man Called Pirate: Reuniting once more following the incredible success of 2013's The Eternal Zero (¥8.74 billion gross), director Takashi Yamazaki and leading actor Junichi Okada are back together again in another film inspired by the events of WWII. This film will be the Winter film to see for Japanese adults/seniors.

Rogue One: As Fantastic Beasts is currently showing, a spin-off of a franchise with a diehard fanbase can still post great numbers, so Rogue One is likely to do very well, too. Like Beasts though, it, too, isn't likely to replicate the success of the main series, but it's probably going to perform very well on its own and can certainly gross over ¥5 billion.

Yo-Kai Watch 3: The first two Yo-Kai Watch films grossed over ¥5 billion, and while the second film did see a near 30% decline from the first, it managed to sell more tickets than The Force Awakens for two weeks in a row... The third film has a secret weapon that should keep it above the ¥5 billion mark, being that part of it's in live-action.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter: The last Resident Evil is being released in Japan before anywhere else, very rare, and the franchise has been popular in the market for quite some time. In fact, Japan was Afterlife's second strongest market (behind only the US), and it was Retribution's overall best market (ahead of the US). Both of them grossed over ¥4 billion, and since this one is being marketed as the "Final Chapter", it's probably going to gross over ¥4 billion (~$40 million) as well, and might even reach ¥5 billion.

Great December, as it should be. :)

At this very moment, 13:30 Beijing local time, YN is on the breach of reaching 50 million Yuan (around US$ 7.5 million). Today is the OD.

As a comparison, FB grossed 74 million Yuan (US$ 11.1 million) in its OD last week (same Friday opener) and finally cume to US$ 41.2 million when the weekend was done.

Oh, and as I write this post, it's now at 51 million Yuan lol.

It's currently 80 million Yuan now (US$ 12 million), not counting last midnight number. The time is around 8pm Beijing time.

edit:
the site has serious stability issue. now it's reporting much lower number. 77.5 million Yuan is predicted by the user at the other forum, inc. last midnight.

#2 KFP3 107M, Winter holiday and 3D
#3 Your Name 77.5M est, 2D and ordinary day, bigger competitions(only 30% showtimes, much less than top 2)

I would like to know which are the Most-Attended imported Films of Japan in 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s.

With some estimations I would be happy. Is very important to me.

Watching this sites http://www.ir-p.com/eiga/eiga50/eiga1950.html

http://nendai-ryuukou.com/1950/movie2.html

This would be very interesting to know even if it is based on estimates the admissions of important titles like "Ben-Hur" (1959), "The longest day" (1962), "The Ten Commandments" (1956), Jaws (1975), Thunderball (1965), The towering inferno (1974) or "Gone with the wind" (1939).

Post Re: Japan Box Office: December Release Schedule
Based on the previous links I think maybe the highest grossing imported movies from each decade would be these.

50s
1: The Ten Commandments (1956)
2: Roman Holiday (1953)
3: Giant (1956)
4: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954)
5: The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
6: War and peace (1956)
7: Notre-Dame de Paris (1956)
8: The Greatest Show on Earth (1952)
9: The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956)
10: Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957)

60s
1: Thunderball (1965)
2: The longest day (1962)
3: Goldfinger (1964)
4: You Only Live Twice (1967)
5: My fair lady (1964)
6: Cleopatra (1963)
7: Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
8: Ben-Hur (1959)
9: The Great Escape (1963)
10: Grand Prix (1966)
70s
1: Jaws (1975)
2: Star Wars (1977)
3: The Towering Inferno (1974)
4: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
5: The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
6: King Kong (1976)
7: Superman (1978)
8: The Exorcist (1973)
9: A Bridge Too Far (1977)
10: Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Could you tell me if I am right or not?

But most importantly, what were or should be approximately the admissions of these films.

China update! Now i refer to the more stable site, thanks to olive information (i just know that the user is here too > <).
As of 1 pm Beijing time, Your Name is still leading with 61 Million Yuan (US$ 9.15 M).
Now waiting for Corpse for info of Japan chart today, at mimorin FB is still leading, by far. It looks like 2nd week in hand for FB.
And i guess by now, YN has passed Howl's moving castle, just wait for official announcement.

FB currently at 135k-ish and YN at 50-ish admission for today. For your name it's an increase from last week :O.

China update for yn: 84 million Yuan (US$ 12.6 M) as of 4.30 pm.

edit:
It seems to be almost final for saturday in China, currently at 109.4M Yuan (US$ 16.41M, 09:00 PM local time). It could reach 110M Yuan i think, if the there are still above 9PM shows. Total since opening has reach 187M Yuan as of now (US$ 28.05M). Possibility to reach US$ 50M opening is almost zero atm. US$ 45M is still in reach, though, depending on tomorrow's result. Above US$ 40M is very likely, and this already mean the biggest anime opening (and the biggest japan film opening), passing Stand by Me (Doraemon) which had US$ 38.3M OW back in 2015.

YN finished strong again this saturday, with around 10k-15k higher admission than last saturday when other films drop. I'm starting to take Corpse's prediction of 22 billion yen seriously.

FB is gonna steal this weekend for sure with 15-20% drop from last saturday.

No noticeable opener this saturday, with the top five still occupied by last week lines.

Wait for Corpse for detail.

And YN saturday number in China updated to 115 million (or 119 million according to Olive). Forgetting the late hour during weekend compared to usual day (Friday). Excellent.

Jaws was massive. It was the first film to ever gross ¥9 billion, and it's still the 47th Highest-Grossing Film of All-Time to this day. By comparison, the first Star Wars is the 100th Highest-Grossing Film of All-Time (for now, Fantastic Beasts will likely bump it off the Top 100 Chart).

Post Re: Japan Box Office: December Release Schedule
It's awesome that Your Name. is breaking out in China to such a large degree! It's likely to earn over $400 million worldwide now.

As for this weekend in Japan:

Fantastic Beasts is enjoying a very strong sophomore frame, down less than 20% compared to last Saturday. It'll, of course, repeat atop the box office this weekend, likely earning over ¥650 million ($5.8 million+), bringing its two week total close to the ¥3 billion ($25 million+) milestone. It's clearly going to exceed ¥5 billion ($40 million+), and should come quite close to matching the gross of the lowest-grossing Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1's ¥6.86 billion total (around $60 million currently).

Your Name. is actually going to experience a weekend increase, and might earn near ¥250 million ($2.2 million) for second place in its fifteenth week in release. It's going to be very, very close to the ¥20 billion ($192/193 million) milestone after Sunday, becoming only the fifth film to ever reach the mark. There's little signs of it slowing down even after almost 4 months in release, and if it can survive the upcoming December releases, it might come a lot closer to ¥25 billion ($230/240 million+) and thus challenge Frozen and Titanic for the second and third spots on the all-time list.

The first weekend of December is usually void of any notable openers, and this year's no exception. However, the next three weekends of the month have several big films opening, so the weekend charts are going to get very interesting.

Interesting... you'd think SW would have had the advantage there just based on genre/concept.

Post Re: Japan Box Office: Beasts Repeats @ #1; Your Name Nears $
Your Name is, like you just have said, one of the most outstanding achievement ever, for a japan film, and now even internationally.

The matter is not the money it made, it's the background of its studio and director. How much did pre- your name grossed? I followed Shinkai since 5cm and became a fan since then. So eventhough he has a cult follower in some countries I never heard about domestic success, since there was almost nothing to talked about. Does anyone know how much is the budget for Your Name? For someone who thought passing 2-3 billion yen as a target and considering the past earnings it's interesting to know how much is the ratio (earning / budget).
