The summer does look to be a bit crowded, but nothing more than this year. This year was pretty damn crowded.
However, not alot to look forward to...
I'm really hoping X3 lives up to X2, in my opinion one of the best and most surprising blockbusters of recent years.
Aside from that, I really want to see the Da Vinchi Code (I'm going to start reading it now), and Pirates 2, though I am hesistant because I didn't think the first one was too great (I thought it was fun and Johnny Depp nailed the movie down but it was a bit too long).
I'm interested in Charlotte's Web just because of the cast. I mean WOW!!!!
And also Lady in the Water just because anyone who wrote and made Signs is worth looking forward to, even with the Village's disappointment, which wasn't as bad with me as it was with the overall public.

Guys, I think you're really thinking Sin City will be too frontloaded. Late March/early April has consistently shown itself to be VERY unkind on legs, whereas if this opened in the summer it would have greatly improved legs.

I was thinking the same thing. However, I still don't think the multiplier will be as good as the original. Multipliers near 2.5 or lower are becoming increasingly common in the summer while they were once unheard of.

Thanks. And I just realized that Charlotte's Web is animated, so I retract part of my uber-high anticipation. I'd still check it out though. Julia is the voice of Charlotte. Jennifer Garner doesn't have a part yet listed on IMDB.

Would you rather it be live action? With the fake movment of the animals mouths. Dr. Dolittle style By the way, does anyone know if the animation will be like Dreamworks and Pixar or 2D?

Hmm, how good did the first film do? Right now I was thinking it could pull that 40/105-ish number, but it may be lower.

2.527. I'm pretty sure that without the good WOM the multiplier would have been under 2.3 (which is what I was predicting until WOM became clear as we got near release).

Alright it's been about two months since I started this thread, and little has changed. M:I:3 got the summer opener spot as Poseiden was relegated to the 12th. Other than that, everything has stayed the same. And numerous high profile summer films haven't even got a place yet, like Sin City 2. Thoughts?

Am I the only one who doesn't think that next summer looks that great? I hope next year is a lot better than this year for film because this year hasn't been too great. Bring on summer 2007, it'll kick all kinds of ass!

Do you mean quality wise, or BO wise?

Quality wise. Box office wise it should be fine.

Indeed. The month of May alone consists solely of tentpoles and big budged action flicks

Next summer looks good, box-office and quality-wise.
I'm anticipating M:I-3, The Da Vinci Code, X3, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Ghost Rider, and Miami Vice.

Personally I think next summer looks AMAZING. I'm anticipating damn near every major release. That's why I'm worried about schedule conflicts.
My top five most anticipated are...
1. Superman Returns
2. Mission Impossible III
3. Sin City 2
4. X3
5. The Da Vinci Code

Currently anticipating:
1. M:I 3 - Liked previous two
2. Poseidon Adventure - Disaster films, when done right, are fun
3. MEG - Shark movies are often fun
4. The Da Vinci Code - Great cast and director
5. X-Men 3 - Interested in seeing what is done with a new director behind the camera
6. POTC 2 - Interested to see where they take the franchise
7. Lady in the Water - Hoping Shyamalan can rebound from 'The Village.'
8. Garfield 2 - Actually thought for a while there that this would get released direct-to-video
9. Ghost Rider - Good cast and premise
10. Superman - Have to see if it can live up to Spider-Man and Batman Begins
In all, a decent summer although I'm sure once we get closer to it there will be other smaller films that get placed that hold as much interest as what is currently listed.

New Shyamalan and Mann? Hell yes! Lady in the Water and Miami Vice will be the gems of the summer, though I don't think they'll be substantial box-office hits.
Pirates will have a monstrous opening weekend, that much is certain. MI3 however, probably wont break $50 million on its opening weekend, thus starting the summer season off slowly once again.

Why not? I could see that movie opening over $60 million.
