DP07, could you briefly explain why you feel Silent Hill will do so well this weekend? I only ask because you have one of the higher predictions on here. Thanks so much.

1. Silent Hill $19.5 mill
2. Scary Movie 4 $16.6 mill
3. The Sentinel $16.3 mill
4. Ice Age: The Meltdown $13.3 mill
5. The Wild $6.1 mill
6. American Dreamz $5.8 mill
7. The Benchwarmers $5.5 mill
8. Take the Lead $4.1 mill
9. Inside Man $3.7 mill
10. Thank You For Smoking $3.1 mill

Nothing too out of the ordinary...I think it could end up being a tight race for #1 between the top three if the two openers manage to disappoint enough and Scary Movie holds up a little better than expected.

Inside Man could be a derby killer, the theater loss + direct competition from The Sentinel could lead to a Shaggy Dog (killed by Ice Age)/16 Blocks (killed by Inside Man, no less) kinda drop. I went lower than most on it but didn't want to go too low in case it broke the other way.

The Wild has the potential to have a bigger than expected drop too if the WOM is as bad as it seems. I'm counting on that not happening though.

Horror movies with either strong visuals or effective marketing tend to open near 20m. With both I never thought SH could open that low. Remind me of The Grudge and The Ring in that way.
