15m euro would be fantastic, only Avatar has done this much recently.

Gooische Vrouwen might do it. It's at €14,979,313 after a 23K weekend. I really don't get how that film made as much as it did.

It's been a while since we saw a truly big local film in the Netherlands, Vrouwen is a beast with massive legs. I wonder if HP7-2 can top it.

So it pass Pirates of the Caribbean OST and is now Number one for the year. It should pass TS3 and Dead Man's Chest on Thursday since it opens in China on that day.

$23m in 2 days is great, as usual the weekdays are very impressive. Let's hope this weekend it sees a sub-50% drop.

Looks like WB hasn't released any numbers for HP's Wednesday and Thursday. Maybe they will be including the China opening numbers to its weekend total, not sure why they would do that cause it is anyways doing gangbusters in rest of the markets.

Warner Bros Pictures International projected that the fantasy behemoth opened in China on a record $25.5m and drew more than 4.5m admissions as the overall running total outside North America climbed to $791.1m. Meanwhile the UK is on the cusp of $100m.

Final numbers from China will be made available on Monday, however the estimate drove a $61.8m international weekend from 4,200 screens with more than 8.6m admissions. The worldwide tally of $1.13bn means Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the biggest worldwide release of the year-to-date.

The top five markets and ranks for Deathly Hallows: Part 2 are as follows: number one in the UK on $4.2m (£2.6m) for $99.7m (£62.2m); number one in Japan on $4.8m (¥367m) for $80.4m (¥6.4bn); second place in Germany on $4.3m (€3m) for $68.6m (€48.5m); fourth in France on $4m (€2.8m) for $55.5m (€39.3m); and second in Australia on $50.8m (A$47.5m).

It passed ROTK, huge accomplishment. The question remains how high it can go. I think it will pass 1.3 which should keep at #3 for a while.

6 of the top 9 ww opened in the last year and a half. $1.3 billion won't be #3 for that long imo...

^ Agreed $1.3b will not be as big. Pirates didn't even cross $250m domestically and still managed to enter Top 10. We have had 3 $1b movies starting 2010 every year (Including Avatar in 2010 cause it made more than $1b then).

Still that is a great number for HP which is definitely fueled by China's opening. Passing ROTK is definitely a great achievement. I am just wondering if there could be any movie that will pass Titanic before Avatar 2 & 3. TDKR has an outside shot to do it with its big domestic gross.

$61.8 is a very big hold this weekend even though it was fueled by China. If it can hold well in next couple of weeks in China then I guess 1.35b is also possible.

Well nothing until the hobbit has a shot at passing it. I think the first part will make around 1.2 and the second will make 1.4 maybe 1.5. I don't think the Dark Knight Rises will make enough OS to do. It should top TDK maybe even pass ROTK.

While big movies may not cross $1.3b mark they will be quite close to it starting next year. And The Hobbit is not very far now. ROTK held #2 for 6 years, which I believe will not be the case with HP.

Where's Archie at?

Netherlands, weekend 4

1 - 1 THE SMURFS €904,045 (166/€5,446) €1,320,175
2 1 4 HARRY POTTER 7 (PART 2) €752,028 -26.9% (200/€3,760) €9,943,219
3 3 2 HORRIBLE BOSSES €275,625 -23.1% (86/€3,204) €807,503
4 - 1 GREEN LANTERN €239,418 (84/€2,850) €239,418
5 4 5 CARS 2 €191,667 -37.9% (163/€1,175) €3,617,916

http://www.filmdistributeurs.nl/files/1 ... eekend.pdf

I was hoping Smurfs would bomb, but I should have known better considering how popular they've always been here... Still, it didn't affect Harry Potter too much. Second best drop in the top 10 after Horrible Bosses, and the third best drop in the top 20 after HB and Tree of Life. Not too shabby.

Enters the top 20 of all time, and should be at #12 next weekend. 13-18 is a real huggy bunch.

11 Harry Potter And The Halfblood Prince €11,337,066
12 POTC: Dead Man's Chest €10,525,314
13 POTC: On Stranger Tides €10,184,151
14 Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows pt.1 €10,150,560
15 Jurassic Park €10,133,712
16 POTC: At World's End €10,111,301
17 Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix €10,102,345
18 Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire €10,086,939
19 Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows pt.2 €9,943,219
20 Alles Is Liefde (Everything Is Love) €9,909,615

Well I think the Hobbit Part 2 will pass that mark. I guess Avatar 2 will, but who knows when that is coming out. Beyond that I would say it is unknown. There is nothing obvious on the horizon for the next three years beyond those three films.

Well, with all markets now opened, i think a total around $850-900m is likely. I think it needs to hold much better if its to gross $900m+.

Taking out China's opening, it would've dropped around the 40% mark. Screen losses will start to kick in now as movies like Apes, Lantern, Cowboys unravel...etc

If the pattern is same everywhere then we will have Apes, C&A, Cars 2, Horrible Bosses, Zookeeper, The Smurfs, Bridesmaids coming ahead, these are just to name a few big ones. I don't see how KFP2, TF3 and HP will be able to hold their screens for so long. HP did really well in China, it should be making $40m more there. Japan might give it a boost though it is already $80m there so I expect that to contribute another $40m.

Still though it is quite close to $800m now so it should cross $900m OS total, I see it ending with $925m-$950m now unless its weekdays start to slow down considerably.

Eh? $900m is practically certain, it made $102m in the last week and at 50% drops will make $893m. And with Obon holiday + first full China week, it'll probably be over $860m by Sunday.

HBP grossed $22.3m on its fourth weekend for a cume of $542m and finished with $632m! And HBP hardly had good legs...if DH2 had the same multiplier it would end up with $1.05b, heh.

I think it will end closer to $1b than $900m anyway.

Woops, i was thinkin it's still at $690, OK. Increase my prediction by $100m. So $950m-$1billion.

Very nice hold for HP and great opening for Apes, looks like Apes will make more than CA. Let's see how C&A opens in Aus

Green Lantern is finally opneing in Australia this weekend, with Cowboys & Aliens next weekend. I'm expecting around $3-4.5m each for both.

Deathly Hallows 2 crosses $800m in OS markets.

Domestic Total : $348,563,937 (by 10th August)
Overseas Total : $801,500,000 (this is by Monday itself :P)

Worldwide Total : $1,150.1

This would mean $9m over Monday in OS, so with that average it should be at $830m by Thursday, should do really well this weekend as well, should easily cross $850m by Sunday.
