Shack wrote: Ok. First of all, just to inform you, I had my predicts in pretty much BEFORE ANYONE ELSE. I posted them at about 5:00 Thursday afternoon. Second of all, if I was going by everyone else, wouldn't it make sense that because I was on the "Anti-WTL 100 mil" side, that I would be close to Lecter and Zingaling? They were at about 18 and 20 mil respectively. Thirdly, if you want I can give you a basis on exactly why I predicted that way. Big theatre count, it showed up on moviefone early, tracking was good, marketing was abundant and well strategized, etc. Like I do with most movies I also spent a couple minutes looking and comparing its numbers on the-numbers.com, looking at Ray's PTA, and so on.
Please stop with your bullshit. This is exactly the reason andaroo got fed up with being here, because of your bullshit, so stop.

For the love of God, will you two please STOP.
I'd love to see a friendly arguement from you two instead of bickering about who's the better predictor, who's full of shit, and who made others do what on the forum. If it's not possible, stop replying to each other.

Shack, when you go out of your way to make shitty comments about the bad marketing, as everybody can clearly see that you did in this very thread, and right up until the last second you were making up one fact after another for why I was "over-predicting" this film, you're damn right you're going to get called out when you start claiming that the "well strategized" marketing won you over.
Like I said, that stuff, just like the claims last week that you were a winner with Derailed, even though you were the farthest away by far, is irritating, and I'll be very pissed if andaroo does take a long break because you couldn't stop doing that shit.
Look, I don't hate you. I really don't have anything personal against you at all, but you've seriously got to tone it down with the argumentative stuff. Neither of us could believe that after all the arguing you did, that seemed like an obsession, you decided to follow the consensus anyway. Please don't insult anyone by telling them it was because of anything that you mentioned, as that was all stuff that you whined about as "lacking".
I'm done, please don't reply.

When you make a holed up post like that, you're begging for a reply.
I didn't like the tv spots that much, but there was a lot of them and I can see why they worked. They made it more exciting than your average biopic, and made it stand out a lot more. Made it more thrilling. After the marketing started coming in, I never argued that it didn't do its job. I knew it was working well enough.
I never once said you were overpredicting, at least not on the opening. You didn't even put out a single number until the final night anyways, so me saying you're overpredicting would be impossible. You're making up facts which you like to accuse me of doing.
With Derailed, I don't want to go into that very much right now. In brief, near the end yes I predicted bad on it. But I owned your ass if you look at the 10 page Derailed thread argument that was held previously.
As for the 'Tweaking the consensous!' thing, that remains the dumbest comeback you ever come up with. When I made my number, I didn't even have KJ open. It was straight up just looking up and putting together the numbers. Ray had a 9000 PTA, I put WTL at coming up with a 7950 PTA. I had my reasons why. I know you're just going to call that bullshit card again, but w/e.

You tried to think for yourself and got burned by making a terrible prediction last weekend. Tracking had been 26 million for weeks, so please don't say tracking all of the sudden changed your mind. That was...weak.
I've grown to expect better from you Maverikk. All you could up with was that I was lying with all my points, and you continue with the 'Tweaking the consensous!' thing. Obviously you couldn't come up with anything to counter what I said, because you know I'm right.

Because I don't have to counter it by saying anything more than "you're full of shit". That pretty much says it all, and all I have to do is point people to all of your arguments. They can reread this thread if they want to, but I don't think anyone has to (or cares to), to realize what you say and then what you try to change it to after the fact, aren't the same.

This is getting...
Old.
I can't believe you're still holding on to that I 'Tweak the consenseus!'. I'll quote Lecter from a long time ago in saying "Then how is it that the same players get the highest scores every week? Good tweakers!?" Again, I'll say it. I do my own calculations for every movie, and a lot of the time KJ isn't open. Usually I use BOM stats, the-numbers.com, and a calculator. If KJ is open, its because I'm arguing with you, or I'm posting in other threads.

It's what you do. Take a look at my predictions this week. (the ones you claim that I didn't put a single number up until the final night, and that's just more lies from you.) Scroll down and read my second post. (Way back on November 12th, which must seem like a lifetime in prediction treaking years.)
http://worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... b7ed4d9216
I stuck with those predictions. This was consistant with everything I had argued about concerning both films. Yours isn't. It really doesn't take a genius to know that you flocked like a sheep to fall in closer with a consensus, as your absolutely shitty arguments in this thread got demolished.

God forbid I can adjust? At the end of the week I felt stronger for the film.
Seriously, the tweaking the consenseus thing is just flat-out retarded. I can't believe you're still holding up on that.

I agree about the tweaking of the consensus thing, which is why it surprises me that you willingly do it. You adjust accordingly every week. You weren't about to get embarrassingly burned again this week, and everyone knows that you would have predicted low like you've argued for WEEKS. (one of the reasons andaroo left. )
Lecter was man enough to stick with his convictions.

If it wasn't late at night and if my parents weren't sleeping, I'd be laughing right now.
This has gotta be the most idiotic theory that you've ever come up with Mav.

For those who are interested:
http://www.moviecitynews.com/columnists ... 051120.htm
"Following hosannas on the festival circuit, Walk the Line bowed with a sturdy $22.3 million. A crowd pleaser with critical appeal, it?s expected to be an award season contender with its fortunes improving following tepid advance response to other anticipated but yet to be released pictures. Friday exit polls revealed a 57%/43% female/male split and about 60% of the crowd aged 25 or older. The latter stat was expected to shift younger Saturday and in subsequent weeks."
Does that mean 57% of it's audience the first weekend was female?

Then that bodes extremely well for it in the coming weeks, as the boys were off watching Harry Potter. I think this proves the point that I was trying to make when I said Reese Witherspoon is a draw, and that's not just in the romcom genre, the woman has many female fans that are willing to support her mainstream films.

"Warner Bros.' fourth J.K. Rowling adaptation reportedly cost about $150 million to make, and the studio's exit polling indicated that 60 percent of the audience was female."

Well, then, the next time you decide to underestimate the female demographic, I'll just have to remind you that they made up roughly 73 million dollars worth from the top 2 movies alone this weekend.
