Where was Hairspray moved to? I dont see it on the scheds.

Judging by the premise it doesnt look like an oscar type movie so summer may not be so bad.

Reno 911!: Miami is now set for Febuary 23, only up against the Jim Carrey/Virginia Madsen Comedy Thriller (WTH?) The Number 23.

My guess is they'll shoot for June 15th or July 13th as counterprograming and hope they can
budge Nancy Drew off the 15th.

They would be the best release dates. Perhaps up against The Simpsons which would have a devouted fanbase and thats all.

The downside of that is that it would tie SIMPSONS as the ninth comedy of Summer not counting OCEANS THIRTEEN and SURFS UP. Though I can't imagine both SUPER BAD and HOT ROD sticking on 6/1.

NO RESERVATIONS
SHREK 3
SUPER BAD/HOT ROD
EVAN ALMIGHTY
RATAOUILLE
LICENSE TO WED
I NOW PRONOUCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY
SIMPSONS

However, Talledega proved to be the biggest comedy of this summer and was the last to be released. I think a bigger problem is there are a fair few comedies that skew female and this is one of them.

Yep. For some franchises where a less than 60 million opening would be considered a
disapointment it would be a questionable move, but it's perfectly fine for a Bond film.

That and it gives them the the 07=007 marketing hook though if they somehow could
have gotten one out for the end of 2007 that would have been huge but would
have required a back to back shoot.

I'm perfectly happy with Bond being released in November all the time, and not just for selfish reasons. I don't think a Bond movie makes as much as a summer release, and with Daniel Craig being untested, it's smart to keep the franchise away from that kind of situation. I remember the last time Eon productions went with a "darker and grittier" approach with Timothy Dalton, and his second filmed tanked because it got lost in the shuffle of summer madness in 1989 with Batman, Indiana Jones 3, Ghostbusters 2, Lethal Weapon 2, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Besides, the fall/winter needs blockbuster staples like Bond and Harry Potter. Summer's got plenty.

It shouldn't have moved to Wednesday in the first place, and it's kinda late to push it back, although I haven't seen much marketing for it yet except the trailers (which doesn't show a date, I believe). I don't think it'll hurt.

Good move though for Chainsaw. A Wednesday opening would have diluted its opening weekend and made it look more like a dissapointment.

I wonder if The Good Shepherd, Universal's CIA drama with Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie, is going to be delayed from December 22nd to 2007. I sure hope not as it's my second most anticipated movie of 2006 (behind The Departed), but there's no trailer yet. I was hoping they'd put one before The Black Dahlia, but it seems they didn't.

:(

You got to remember that Eragon didn't have a trailer yet for this week. I also want to see a Trailer for the Good Shepard and Blood Diamond.

Why on earth is A Little Game going up against Rush Hour 2!!? It would have been better off against The Simpsons or even the empty weekend after Pirates!
