 Re: SUPER 8 $300m club
Good lord, does it not get tiring to target a different movie to hate for no apparent reason every week? For someone who constantly yaps about how people "take this stuff too seriously," you're the one who seems to go into every thread that exists and nonsensically bash whatever you've chosen for that week.

I'm thinking something like 36m OW and 200m finish. Multiplier of 5.5. And that's assuming WOM is as good as all the reviews indicate it will be (and as we all know, reviews and WOM rarely match exactly). Yeah I think thats the best it can do. I really dont think the nostalgia/homage angle will be enough for general auds. Id love it to be huge - but anything above $150m would be great.

Meanwhile back on topic, I would say this thread is a FAIL right off the bat, but Gunslinger makes absolute certain to throw in the 45 Million dollar budget and as a result, it's virtually impossible for this to be a BOMB, even a disappoiintment cause it's $$$$ will be made back in a week so there you go...

Poor club. It's marching towards a completely inevitable demise.

People need to wake up. BKB just gave this club the greatest blessing anyone could ever give it. Screw tracking. BKB is the greatest tool for box office prediction.

If you say so, but this club is a BUST before this is even released just on tracking low numbers alone, almost to the point of apologetic and pathetic when you consider Spielberg and JJ Abrams name attached to it..

Holy shit was that a bust. Domestic gross: $134,806,913 Budget $150 million No wonder they won't make a sequel. No one wanted to see that original turd of a movie in the first place.

can we get back to topic....on how Super 8 will not make $300m? I am sure it doesn't matter to anyone what others think of the movies they like.

I wonder if Mark still believes in this club. He predicted 72M OW and it does not look like it will make even half that number.

His only argument was that his first club was also very unlikely and yet it succeeded. This was never going to happen.

 Re: SUPER 8 $300m club
It wont happen because general auds wont like this enough for it to get a 10+ multiplier that it needs. I think 5 is possible but 10 isnt.

After watching the whole movie a couple of days ago I am indeed more sceptical about its chances. Don't get me wrong, I really, really liked the movie, but in my opinion it doesn't have that extra kick to get it over the $300m mark. Well, we'll find out in its 2nd weekend...

Mark do you see it crossing $200m mark? or maybe $150m?
I don't see it doing that (of course after seeing the movie) right now.

 Re: SUPER 8 $300m club
Yeah....this never had a chance of happening, though I rpoabbyl would have joined a $200+ million club back then (not now, though).
Right now I see $150 million as the ceiling.
