Re: China Box Office (strong second week for Aftershock)
Aftershock (唐山大地震) has become the highest grossing Chinese film of all time with a box office total of RMB532 million ($78.5 million). The figure, published by Chinese state media on Monday, means that Aftershock has overtaken Founding of A Republic (建國大業), the all-star propaganda movie that scored RMB420 million ($62 million) last year. Aftershock achieved its record in just 18 days since its release on 22 July 2010. It also means that director Feng Xiaogang (馮小剛) has successfully achieved his target of making the first Chinese film to score RMB500 million ($73.8 million) in theatres. http://www.filmbiz.asia

So, 234m yuan for the full second week, and 118m yuan for the full third week, that's about -50%. Are $100 million still possible?

I'm surprised Adele is doing so well. Is there any special reason why? I didn't know Besson was so popular there.

 Re: China Box Office (Aftershock)
Entertainment venues were all shut down on Sunday for a day of condolence for the flood victims, affecting the weekly total quite a bit. Look like Aftershock was down by more than 50%, although it's essentially 6-day vs. 7-day. With Chinese Valentine's Day on Monday, the business will rebound this week, so it could still reach $100m. It's basically a 50-50 proposition at this point.

That's incorrect as far as I know. It's still scheduled to be released on Sep 2nd.

If the opening day is any indication, The Expendables is having a huge weekend.

Re: China Box Office (Shrek Forever After and The Expendables)
Look like a 70m yuan ($10.3m) weekend for The Expendables. If that holds with actual, 200m yuan is almost certain considering it's a traditional 3-day start.
