I always thought of Chapp#$#@$# as a political movie and I believe most of the audience feel the same. The trailers try to sell the story but their main catch is story about politics or a political family.

It's not a Presidential movie.

It's not what it is, but what people think it is, and it is certainly closer to being a presidential movie than not. It is political, and that's basically the same thing to audiences.

I doubt it. I don’t think too many people mistake JFK or Jackie (it’s similar to Jackie more than JFK) as being presidential movies. This is the same thing. It involves politicians and a political family, but there is no politicking. There also isn’t a president, unless we’re counting portraits and brief TV clips.

I don't think audiences care for the trivial distinction you're highlighting. Chappaquiddick is a political movie with strong ties to the presidency and a presidential family. To many people, a Kennedy is a Kennedy is a Kennedy. Compare that to other releases out at the moment, and it's exactly what Rolling Thunder alluded to, and certainly did not warrant your wise-ass correction.

As someone who has actually seen the movie, it’s about the night Ted Kennedy killed someone and how his name and father’s associates saved his ass. It’s a movie about a politician. A major theme of the movie is how he is haunted by his “perfect” brothers who also happen to be politicians. That does not make it a movie about politics.

What politics did the trailer highlight? And just because you thought one way doesn’t mean everyone else did.

Anything that casts a shadow on the Kennedy’s is seen as a punch against the Left who the Right thinks is trying to cover up all of these conspiracies. Watching this movie is seen by the Right as joining Trump and his heroic campaign against the Left Wing tyrants in Mainstream Media.

Don’t believe me? Checkout Fox News online.

I think you are saying this now because you have seen the movie. I also never said that the trailer's highlighted it being a political movie just the opposite of it.

More proof of how media is seeing this and that's the biggest marketing for older audience.

No, I know the slightest bit about American history. If you want to point out a potential bias, look where I’m from.

That’s how Fox News sees it, not necessarily the media. The media, like most of the general public, don’t care about the movie.

Not really. I don’t think anyone gives a shit about the movie. :funny: It’s got old people, that one article from Fox trying to stir the right, and people from Massachusetts. Which is a shame because it’s good.

I think you underestimate the demographic size of old people and right wing conspiracy believers. Afterall, Trump is currently the US President

Trust me I have no knowledge about politics myself. I wasn't pointing a bias but I think after you see a movie perception changes, specially for the ones you like.

Fox New is not part of media? I thought they were one of the biggest news networks in US, feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Also $6.2m dollar admissions worth of people cared and its not going to drop like a rock from here. I see it doing $15m total which is not change for this kind of cheaply made movie.

I don’t underestimate their size. I just don’t think they give a shit about the movie outside of going clacking-clack on their like-minded websites.

$6 million dollar opening and I’m guessing most of it came from my neck of the woods.

My perspective didn’t change though. I got the movie I expected - a faithful retelling of what happened.

I also didn’t say Fox News wasn’t part of the media. I said that’s how they see (their slant) the movie while most of the media doesn’t because the Kennedy’s are mostly irrelevant and from a bygone era (for now at least, though it’ll most likely stay that way).

Also, $6.2 million worth of people cares, it’s not going to drop like a rock, but it’s only going to make $15 million total?

Love the success ICOI is having. $100m is doable. It will beat Heaven is for Real.

If BP can just hang in there with the low drops. With the help of double features with Avengers 3, $700m is feasible. That’s assuming steep drops after Infinity War is out though I wouldn’t be surprised if it continues to hold well! Lol

That contradiction is pretty much the core of how the right wing works, where they're simultaneously underdog rebels but also maintainers of order and tradition. Sort of how they hate the government, but support the police and the military.

Maybe late to the party but I agree with Jmart here - Chappa is a drama and not a political film.

I think it's most impressive since God's Not Dead, which was more impressive than Fireproof. Though that one did impress.

I just saw that it broke $81m this weekend, wow, crazy good.
