Was it just me or did the Breaking Dawn 2 trailer make BD1 look like it had a ton more shit going on? I mean this film looks like literally NOTHING happens and I thought the trailer for BD1 was as low as you could go promotion wise

It's a bit strange they cut SUCH a short trailer. Almost pointless. Particularly since both parts were shot at the same time, so the movie has been in the can for months.

I don't care, though. I'll be there opening night. :P

I thought the teaser was really lame. Indeed nothing happens. I know it's a teaser but this was all they could come up with?

I s'pose it's a strange movie to advertise in certain respects. If any movie sells itself, it's part 2 of the fourth Twilight movie. Even if they spent tons of time and money cutting an epic trailer, no one is going to say, "Wow, amazing trailer, I'm going to try out this crazy Twilight business for the first time this November."

Film

I enjoyed the film. I didn't read the last 3 chapters so the final few minutes were a surprise as to how it went. There wasn't much laughter but a few bits with Effie and Stanley's character. One jump moment. Smattering of applause at the end. Lines and lines of people waiting and the parking lot to this place which is very large was completely taken over. One thing that was a bit distracting for me was the damn herky jerky handheld camera usage. It was really distracting and messed up action shots in the film imo. Overall, I thought it sped through the book and did a good job of doing so.

Grade - A

Side Rant.

So I find a seat after waiting 90 minutes in a line and I ask this man with his wife/gf to hold my seat. He says No, I'm not going to do that. After being stunned I said okay and sat in my seat. I overhear his lady friend tell him he should have held my seat. I stand up and ask the lady behind me and she says okay without hesitating. What in the world is the world coming to when you run into prick assholes who won't hold one seat for someone who has 15 minutes to grab some food and drink? It's just ridiculous to me. This agression will Not stand!

When I saw it, I chose a seat which had a coat and a newspaper on it. This confused me, so I threw them on the floor and sat down.

The Hunger Games
5:15 show, 450-seat theater, 5 people (just kidding; it was sold out, duh)

Trailers
The Avengers
Dark Shadows
What to Expect When You're Expecting
Snow White and the Huntsman
Prometheus
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Movie
A very satisfying adaptation of the book. Gary Ross does a great job presenting Suzanne Collins' vision, and I was definitely on the edge of my seat throughout (despite knowing how things would go). Much of the credit for the film's success should go to Jennifer Lawrence, whose commanding performance is outstanding. She imbues Katniss with spirit and strength, and a strong female lead like this is such a breath of fresh air compared against the likes of Twilight and its ilk. Josh Hutcherson, of the puppy dog eyes, makes Peeta sympathetic and likable. And, of course, scene-stealing work comes from the likes of Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks (Liam Hemsworth can't make much of an impression due to Gale's brief screen time in the first story). There are a few problems here and there, and of course some of the novel's content has been cut. But overall, The Hunger Games captures the spirit of the book and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Catching Fire and Mockingjay. A-

Crowd was very into it, clearly made up of a lot of fans of the book. And the movie was legitimately sold out ALL DAY. Like, every show from 2 PM until at least 11.

Saw The Raid: Redemption at 2:25pm at an art-house in D.C. Around 75% full in one of the bigger auditoriums. Trailers included Bernie, The Hunter, A Short History of Progress, and Thin Ice. The crowd obviously loved it. Laughs, gasps, etc.

I would like to add that the Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter trailer was laughed off the screen when the title was revealed. Seems like a great sign for its box office prospects!

Reminds me of how Cowboys & Aliens' title always inspired big laughs.

I know it's based on another property but...the title is so ridiculous? And makes me want to imagine other movies with similarly terrible titles. Janet Reno: Galactic Priestess. Dwight D. Eisenhower: Playgirl Centerfold. Aaron Burr: Panda Enthusiast.

I don't have a problem with the title. It is what it is, same as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It's a fun, absurd, comic title.

The trouble is turning, "ha ha, crazy" into actual $.

I don't have a problem with the title. I'm just worried it's going to bomb like Jonah Hex or something. I hope not or I doubt we'll see Pride & Prejudice & Zombies anytime soon, which I would be more interested in seeing as a movie.

Abe Lincolns reminds me of Snakes of a Plane. A ridiculous concept whose marketing doesn't let people in on the joke.

Yep. :disgust:

The book deserves better.

Yep, it was in front of my midnight showing. Is that really getting a theatrical release?? Looked like a DTV movie.

I wish it were shown with mine. I'd like to see the trailer but I can't even find it on YouTube.
