Box Office Guru wrote: Two smaller films successfully expanding into national release followed and scored the best averages among all the wide releases. Fox Searchlight's road comedy Little Miss Sunshine ranked fourth for the weekend with an estimated $9.7M over four days with $7.6M over the Friday-to-Sunday portion. It was the second weekend in a row that actor Greg Kinnear had two films in the top five. He plays a supporting role in Invincible as well. Sunshine averaged a strong $6,071 from 1,602 theaters over four days pushing its total to $35.8M and counting. At its current rate, it should eventually surpass Miami Vice as the top-grossing R-rated film to come out of the summer.
You know, I didn't even realize that was a possibility. That would be kind of amazing.

If w.b. would only friggin add some theaters, 200 million would be gaurenteed.
Time to throw in the towel Excel and admit this movie was a sheer box office disappointment and spare me the International garbage to.. We live in the U.S and in the U.S, it's the DOMESTIC Number that's the measure of the movie's success and SR didn't cut it domestically.. It's over.. The End..

Bit of a boring weekend, but that's a fantastic hold for Invincible. These football-themed dramas almost always seem to do really well.
Great for Little Miss Sunshine and The Illusionist, as well.

New Line doesn't report estimates. Same reason why How to Eat Fried Worms isn't there.

A shame isnt it. Im looking forward to seeing this one!
As for the Weekend BO - not bad that it will get reasonably close or surpass 2005.
Great for The Illusionist, Accepted, Little Miss Sunshine and Cars.

Pretty good weekend, all things considered. I have a feeling that Crank & Wickerman are overestimated, though.

Pirates is still doing outstanding.
Little Miss Sunsine is also doing extremely well. Hopefully its box office performance translates into some awards come that time.
