Everyone saying The Hills Have Eyes lacks appeal must have forgot that the TCM remake made near 30 million OW while looking very similar to this film. Horror films always have appeal.

Has anybody mentioned Dawn of the Dead yet? This remind me of that exactly.... :nerd:

That's low for Inside Man. We all know Washington consistently opens film to $20M (except for Out of Time and limited release Antwone Fisher in last six years). And adding Jodie Foster, Clive Owen, and Spike Lee, $25M seems safe to me.

I don't know if Ice Age 2 could get to $200 million with a $47 million debut. It would have to have fantastic legs like the first, which is unlikely with all the family films being released after it.

It'll open to more than 47 mil. Definitley. I can't see it opening to less than Madagascar and Shark Tale 50 mil+. Both of those were a) Touted as crap early on, b) Had rough competition, c) Weren't as kid-friendly as IA2, and d) Didn't have a massive 1st movie's popularity and fanbase. Now that Doogal broke the ice of a kid film doing badly, Ice Age 2 can sweep in an kill. I think 70 mil+ is not out of the question.

Seems about right for THHE and every other of this week's openers. Shaggy looks to be big. Piss poor for The Libertine, as expected.

High for Stay Alive. Doubt it makes more than 8 million opening when all is said and done.

I'm gonna go against the grain from all the predictions for HILLS HAVE EYES and say this will make 25 Million this weekend..

Shark Tale was successful because of the lack of competition, not rough competition. It was the only kids movie released between the end of August and the beginning of November.

But Ice Age should easily break $50 million.

Oh yeah, I must've been thinking of just Madagascar when I wrote that.

I don't think it can do 25 Million. It doesn't seem to have enough advertising. The one that has the most is easily FAILURE TO LAUNCH. I've seen millions of spots for it. I think it should do around what HOW TO LOSE A GUY did. Anyway, I think HILLS will have pretty decent legs for a horror movie, meaning I'm thinking it will drop under 50% its second weekend. WOM should be strong enough.

MTC has Failure to Launch at $21M?

Maybe I'm actually underpredicting a chick flick for once.

I saw like three TV spots in a row (seriously, one after the other) during the first commercial break of SOUTH PARK tonight. That's because tonight's episode was brought to us by THE HILLS HAVE EYES :D. I thought they were cool but too fast and they don't really show the plot. I hear they are all like this, therefore I think I might lower my prediction to 17 Million.

I still think Failure to Launch will do disappointing. No draws with Matthew or Sarah, the marketplace has been producing at least one underperformer a weekend, I don't think this the oppurtune time for a romantic comedy, and it just doesn't look that appealing. I'm thinking about 14 mil for now.

The tabloids and newspapers are ripping FAILURE TO LAUNCH apart here in the UK, because apparently, Matthew hates SJP. And there is no chemistry whatsoever in the movie, because they disliked each other so much.

When asked what he thought of her, Matthew replied "Peculiar"....hmmm. It'll fall flat on it's face without chemistry thats for sure. Weak trailer anyway.

The Hills Have Eyes is guaranteed Number 1 in the UK, as the market is dead, and reviews and ads are fantastic here.

I wonder how well this is going to open. Any high teens figure is good enough. I'm hoping for over $20M. It looks fabulous. Can't wait until friday to see it!

I'm revising my prediction for THE HILLS HAVE EYES from 25 Million for the weekend to 5 Million based on a review I read where there is a Brutal Rape Scene and quite frankly, it sounds to me based on reading the review that it was thrown in for shock factor more than being a benefit for the story and that alone is disturbing.. Fuc* this..

Hills will make 5 mil on Friday ALONE... If anything a scene like that will hurt it's overall gross... not the OW...

Pwned! Twice in one night!!!

Rape? Pfft. That's nothing as I doubt it comes anywhere close to the one in Irreversible.

2619 theaters for The Hills Have Eyes. Brokeback Mountain is losing a bunch. :nonono:
