That's good news. I'm still not sure if Chinese audience would embrace this with open arms. |

The rest of the year boasts quite a few foreign films being released. 01 Dec: Viking 01 Dec: Aftermath 01 Dec: Kill Switch 01 Dec: Darkest Hour 08 Dec: Only the Brave 08 Dec: 47 Meters Down 08 Dec: Paddington 2 And Bleeding Steel opens on 22nd December. And apparently American Made, Wonder, Colossal, The Emoji Movie, Logan Lucky and Jumanji are slated for December, but with no dates yet. |

How was Paddington received in China? I know it made a good (even great for its time) $16.8m USD but any chance of expansion of audience this time? |

Reception was good. I expect an increase with the sequel. |

Yeah well an increase is still good but agreed that its not going to as HUGE as that early reports made it look. |

An increase is good with the domestic mindset, but increases on Sundays here in China are as common as increases from Thurs-Fri in the US. Completely expected. |

So I guess word-of-mouth has taken effect, but it is such a leap to say it will join the $150m club when it's only at $36m now. The good thing is that December is basically empty so it has the time. |

Yeah seems like a stretch from $36m to $150m specially since the market is not known for very good legs. Still a brilliant increase on Friday. |

127M($19.3M) on Saturday and around 113M($17.2M on Sunday). More than $73M. |

Cool. It is half-way to that $150m projection. Would be crazy if it reached it. But then, it makes total sense if China becomes a big market for Pixar/Disney CG-animated films. They've inherited all the other mass-appeal films from the US, this was the only type left. |

Justice League is at 98.5m in China... at least it did better than BvS there. |

Post subject: | Re: China Box Office |
Ragnarok did $112m, so it is looking pretty good that Justice League surpasses that. So it is actually a triumph here in China at least. But then China has become a place for shoddily-made films to perform well. They do not seem to have any critical eye for quality since most Chinese films are also badly made. They just care how many jokes can be shoehorned into a run time. |

Coco is only looking at a 20% decline for another $35m weekend. |
