I don't think Pirates compares in that area. For example, older-ish women? Like most action or adventure movies, Pirates won't have any in that area. Um, Shack? I know more women who liked Pirates of the Caribbean then men (it's my mom's favorite movie, for example).
Yeah plus, older-ish women love Johnny Depp! hehe.

MovieDude wrote: Uh guys? Just because one movie is going to make more then the other or is higher profile doesn't mean that it won't move for reasons beyond competition. And even so, it's not like some films can't survive together. Just look at this Memorial Day weekend. Madagascar, The Longest Yard and Star Wars 3 all managed to make what, around 50 million each that weekend despite having similar audineces. I don't expect Shrek and POTC to open right next to each other, and Narnia and Kong five days apart showed that no matter how big the movies are they can be hurt by opening too close. I'm sure they won't be just a week from each other, but it's not like either will need a holiday weekend to open over 100 million (assuming POTC 2 has good WOM).
Thats the thing - a film like POTC3 doesnt need the Memorial Day weekend to open big. Its even better off the week later (ie. the NEMO spot). A film like Used Guys would benefit more from Memorial Day weekend.

Yeah, that was to be expected. I recently saw some ads for Nacho Libre and the only reason I could think for them to market it at this point was to help it move ahead of The Break-Up in tracking and therefore get them to move. I guess it didn't work.

Silly move for Nacho Libre.
Anyway - here are a heap of new release dates - some interesting ones:
His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass - From 12/7/07 to 11/16/07
10,000 B.C. Warner Bros. 7/27/07 New
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Warner Bros. 7/13/07 2007
Ocean's Thirteen Warner Bros. 6/8/07 New
Summer 07 is getting more and more crowded. I cant beleive WB is going for a July release for Potter!! Dark Materials makes the most of that move.

I'm literally in shock.
Spider-Man 3, Shrek The Third, Used Guys, Pirates Of The Carribean 3, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Pheonix, Ratatouille, Fantastic Four II, Transformers, Ocean's 13, 10,000 B.C., and Avatar ALL IN ONE SUMMER
There are no words to describe it, just...wow.

Rush Hour 3 is not confirmed and i think Avatar will be pushed back to end of the year or Summer 2008.

Good slot for Bourne. The only real option.
