It will not come anywhere close to Jurassic World or Avengers. you can keep tooting that horn all you want but that is just simply not the case. If it does indeed do 50 million OD in December you could tell all of us to fuck off but there's a better chance of the previews being over 30 million than the OD only being 50. What do you think is going to happen? Do you think it's going to drop 60% over Christmas? Because that is what will happen if the OD is 85m+. Either that or it will out gross Avatard. Realistically, the highest I see it matching is ROTK's Opening, which by my calculations would be 50.7 million OD with inflation and 3-d, assuming a 25% 3-D share and avg. $3 surcharge, a 25.3 Thursday (for 76 million in 2 December weekdays!) 32.4 million Friday (108 million in 3 December days!) 43.1 million Saturday (for 151 million in 4 December days!) and 34.5 million Sunday (for 179 million in 5 fucking December days!!!! That has never been seen before!!!) Not to mention a 40% drop at absolute most Week 2. I don't see how 50 million OD in December is bad unless you don't expect people to check it out over the weekend.

Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
December continued
Avatar - #14 The Sting - #19 The Graduate - #21 Thunderball - #28 Love Story - #35 Goldfinger - #42 The Bells of St. Mary's - #52 Return of the King - #53 The Towering Inferno - #55 The Two Towers - #63 Superman - #66 Tootsie - #67 Lawrence of Arabia - #74 The Poseidon Adventure - #78 The Fellowship of the Ring - #79 The Bridge on the River Kwai - #82 Swiss Family Robinson - #85 Duel in the Sun - #95
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that quite a few December releases were in the top 100. Before Jaws, December was when studios would release their major tentpoles.

You use adjusted numbers as if mean something. Enough said.

Jmart only wins in finding answers to a question that nobody asked. The real winner will be decided in December when Star Wars VII doesn't break records, and all the Star Wars fans look secretly edit all their past predictions.

Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
I just don't see a $760m+ total for it, that would be a huge jump from the prequels. I know they are not the same movies but still I just don't see a sizable chunk of audience that love the movies decide not to see Star Wars movies because they are prequels.

Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
So it appears we have zwackerm, Algren, Excel and Keyser Soze definitely in the it doesn't break all the records club, while Dr. Lecter and Jack Sparrow have shown not to be completely on board with the it breaks all the records club.

None of those arguments are as good as the one for it: it's motherfuckin Star Wars! The all-time most popular franchise returns to glory with the Disney marketing machine behind it. Please open it on Friday Disney. Ken Wattanabe wants you to let them fight!!

Star Wars has a more fervent fanbase Star Wars is a four-quadrant movie Old cast will bring skeptics back And most importantly, but it's something we won't know until December, it's obviously got to be good.

Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
That reasoning is just weird because ROTK clearly sold more tickets than AOTC and ROTS. So it is just very weird to me that people think the brand has grown substantially since that point in time.
ROTK was an crazy hyped film. I think TFA matching ROTK's #1s with inflation and 3D would bue hge but I dont think it happens.
