I think a club needs to be established

Is the new trailer not very popular? I haven't had it come up in any news feed. Not on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram.

It's not but it was just a recut of the first trailer so its understandable.

Even though I started this club, I have to say that I’m getting impatient re: a real trailer with dialogue. I’d have to imagine with Captain Marvel?

This "new" trailer is really a non event.

It's not a new trailer. They added Simba sneezing. That's it.

Just saw the new trailer. Still effective. It's going to do well.

I'm starting to worry a little about this club. The new trailer is merely fine, it's not the epic, holy shit! thing I was expecting/hoping for.

Really, I've been underwhelmed by most of Disney's trailers of late.

THis gonna make less than BATB.

I will go down with the ship, but man I am concerned. I don't understand the marketing approach here...dropping an underwhelming new trailer at 9:00 am on a Wednesday with zero build-up.

I assume the VFX isn't fully done yet, but the CGI animals don't seem 1/10th as expressive as their hand-drawn animated counterparts. I'm sure it will make a shitton of money but it looks sterile to me for that reason.

Also they kind of fucked up by not having Hakuna Matata in the trailer didn't they?

Funny, I'm LESS worried about this club after the trailer. It looks fantastic, and gorgeous. I can 100% guarantee the first song they release will be "Can you feel the love tonight" to get that sweet Beyonce $$$$$.

Are the effects not coming together for this? They barely showed anyone talking and it looked bad whenever they did. Weird considering The Jungle Book did it well only a few years ago.

This will still open to $200M, but I wouldn’t be surprised by a 45% RT score.

I wasn't super impressed by the new trailer either, but it looks like it's still getting great reactions all across social media. I'm honestly starting to think it's going to be a lot closer between this and Endgame's domestic totals than we think. Both should go well over $700M at least and possibly $2B WW.

I was very impressed with the trailer. They nailed the photorealism, my chief concern. $600m is the floor. The trailer shamelessly plays up to nostalgia but I'm for it. I'm going to say IN.

$760m DOM

People are overestimating this.

If Beauty and the Beast came out this year, it doesn’t make anywhere near 500m. That one got off as one of the first big animated Disney movies to be remade. But that film isn’t fondly remembered. And The Lion King is gonna suffer because of that. Add in the Aladdin remake with the potential to sour audiences on these live action remakes, The trailers have mainly been met with a meh response. Is anyone really breathlessly anticipating it? It will make plenty of money off the brand name alone, but I don’t think it gets up there around Avatar and Black Panther. You REALLY need excitement to get there. And I don’t think this film has it.

I think the fact that The Lion King was a bigger hit than Beauty and The Beast will offset the fatigue somewhat, but this “BATB made x amount, so obviously TLK makes 250m+ more” doesn’t account at all for the changing marketplace.

Yeah. Around $330 million will be great for it. This club is just nuts and always has been.

I don't know what to think. It's possible people are already tired of the live action remake novelty. It's also conceivable however that the visuals will make it an Avatar situation

This film could be meh and still outgross BATB. Hell the rerelease when they were considered dead 8 years ago did a 190WW. 750 is tough though, I'm sure a film eventually will do it in Summer (Endgame can, but it isn't technically summer)

The re-release got just $94m.

Just throwing that out there so people have all the information. Using worldwide box office in a US discussion thread is purposely misleading. But I know most here will have spotted Thegun's attempt.

Still stand by this. Disney will have set all-time box office record TWICE in a 3 months period.

This trailer wasn't as chill inducing as the first so this has dampened my excitement somewhat. They should be playing up the music as the best part of the current trailer were the few seconds of hakuna matata. It's the music Disney so use it.

Well I did say WW. The 94 was sill the point. Outside of ANH, most fell in the 45-55 range.

I'm sure this will get a trailer in front of Endgame, does anyone know if Episode IX will get a trailer with it?
