What I'm pointing out is a rebound after 2 days of arguably heavy drops, indicating better drops going forward in the week. Of course, the giveaway will further enhance that effect.

Violet Evergaden's week 12 total has been updated on the Top Grossing Films: 2020 chart. And welcome to the forum. Also, a question for you and all of new members over the past couple of months: How long have you guys been lurkers here prior to joining? And how did you find the forum? I've realized for quite some time now that a lot of lurkers frequent this thread, for a couple years at least, due to the amount of views it receives. Just curious how and where you guys came upon our forum. And definitely glad all of you have joined recently. Maybe 3 years I guess. I began to watch this thread with "Your Name." release in theaters. I registered in 2019 to know some information about KyoAni releases by the way (my first post was about Hibike! Euphonium Chikai No Finale) and the other source I watch for it is... the twitter account of ultimatemegax ! Thanks to him for all the good and impressive job about Kyoto Animation on your twitter account and blog. And I feel same about the job you do Corpse on this thread. Very impressive, passionate and accurate.

I made the account today, I'd been a lurker since around December 2018, because that's when Dragon Ball Super: Broly released wide in Japan, which had my interest. But I've known of Corpse and his contributions for longer than that ( BoxOfficeTheory ).

Based on the reserve situation, DS is going to increase by 20%+ this weekend and will easily crack 30b by Sunday

It is an actual book being given away after all, not an illustration card. And the lower quantity for the book would understandably cause more of an initial turn out among fans and scalpers alike.
Also, the manga series sold a whopping 4.7 million+ copies last week... That's its highest week to date, breaking its own weekly sales record(s) once again. I haven't seen a number of how many copies the last volume sold yet, but I think it must be near or over 3 million at least given the weekly total. That puts its physical book sales over 100 million I'm pretty sure.
2019: 12,057,628 copies 2020: 82,345,447 copies 2021: 4.7 million+ after a single week.
So the sales from 2016-2018 (which some of you may know number of) would surely be enough to put it above 100 million PHYSICAL copies only now.

There is a user at 5chan who manually counts the reservations at MOVIX Cinemas.
And just looking at various Toho Cinema locations, the reservations are through the roof there as well. There are fewer showings now than weeks ago due to more films being in release and also opening so it's more noticeable, but several locations are already at or over 50% booked for the entire Saturday.

2016-2018 : 2 655 100 (for 13 volumes) 2019 : 12 057 628 2020 : 82 345 447 2021 : 5 816 287 (Week #01 + #02)
2016-2020 : 97 058 175 2016-2021 : 102 874 462
The fanbook and the Gaiden aren't included . By the way, the Gaiden sold 858 751 in 3 days, this is certainly an insane week!! I discovered the forum 2 years ago when I was searching numbers for the Detective Conan movies and I found more than expected^^.

The official numbers aren't out yet, but looking at Shoseki rankings and the weekly sales number. I would be estimating +3.5M copies sold for Volume 23 in three days. I could be wrong, but thats my prediction currently. Give or take a few hundred thousand. Its completely sold out in most places. According to this, the volume sold three times as much as the previous one during day 1. https://hon-hikidashi.jp/more/120329/

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Actuals (12/05-06); 2021 Begins!
That's so crazy. I knew of some places that sold out almost immediately after opening, so it shouldn't be shocking that it ended up selling 85% or more of its initial first-print of 3.95 million, but it IS. And breaking the first week (3-days) sales record by 1 million or more is just nuts. And, correct me here if I'm wrong, if it comes in above 3.4 million for the first week (3-days), that'd be enough to break the YEARLY sales record of a single volume, right?

I knew of some places that sold out almost immediately after opening, so it shouldn't be shocking that it ended up selling 85% or more of its initial first-print of 3.95 million, but it IS. And breaking the first week (3-days) sales record by 1 million or more is just nuts. And, correct me here if I'm wrong, if it comes in above 3.4 million for the first week (3-days), that'd be enough to break the YEARLY sales record of a single volume, right? Of others series, yes. But Kimetsu already broke this record with all its 22 volumes selling more than 3.4 million copies in the 2020 fiscal year (inclunding the limited editions) As of right now volume 20 holds the record for best selling volume in a single year with 4,396,467 sold copies (including limited edition) If we separate limited edition from the normal volume, then volume 18 is the best selling volume in a single year with 4,393,137 sold copies

Really great holds in last two days. Seems like a huge week to come.
