The illustration cards for the first two giveaways were definitely nice, but this is even better!

At this rate, the final giveaway will be 500k..... is it quite small?

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Actuals (12/05-06); 2021 Begins!
Nah. The second giveaway (of 1 million) wasn't reached until Wednesday or so, its fifth day. Assuming it does something like 450,000-500,000 admissions this upcoming weekend, 750,000 is a good number and should last until next Wednesday or so again. (Not to mention that while this book is likely small, producing a million or more of them so fast may have been difficult.)
Remember that they don't want so many out there that the demand for them lessens, thus lowering the more immediate positive impact they have for the film and theaters.

I've realized for quite some time now that a lot of lurkers frequent this thread, for a couple years at least, due to the amount of views it receives. Just curious how and where you guys came upon our forum. And definitely glad all of you have joined recently. Personally, I was already looking at the forum at the beginning of 2019 and at the end of the year I registered because Frozen 2 was coming out (I had high expectations regarding this one, even if in the end it disappointed me a little) and I I was waiting to see what this 2nd installment would give at the Japanese box office so I decided to join and participate in the forum. This is a great forum because you never leave a question unanswered and are there every day to analyze the Japanese box office, that's a good thing.

Found it from the weekly top 10 posts that get cross posted to BoxOfficeTheory, which I joined for Black Panther OW.

Registered just to answer Never really had much to add, (pretty much everything I know about the market is from you), but I've been lurking since about Aladdin. It's a fascinating market, and you do a great job of explaining it, (as much as that's possible). Great stuff, Corpse. Thanks! P.S. If only someone had this kind of a handle on the South Korean market, I would probably be lurking there too

I got to know abt WoKJ and Corpse on BoT, where usually people post what Corpse says. Since nothing is happening elsewhere, thought should cut the middleman and go directly where discussion is being done.

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Actuals (12/05-06); 2021 Begins!
I first found this forum (and BOT) in 2016 when Your Name. was released. But by that time I was not much into cinema, just occacional, in fact Box office Mojo was still my main source for data, mostly MCU/Star Warfs stuff. Was last year when finally became more interested in this, and began searching and collecting info from different markets, like a sort of hobby in my free time. And of course it took this phenomenal record-breaking-beast to finally make me sign in....

LPLC: Your projections look reasonable. The holiday will throw projections off, either positively or negatively, since we can't really determine how it may perform over them, but the figures look good not knowing this.
Thanks for sharing how/why many of you joined here. Definitely appreciated, and more discussion is always welcomed. I may know a great deal regarding the Japan box-office specifically (and thanks for all the kind words), but the detailed discussions you all are providing on specific films (like Fate/Grand Order which I mostly just knew by name only) is very helpful, as is insight or details on external topics like manga and home video data and information.

Last Tuesday, if it wasn't a discount day, probably would have earned around ¥90/100 million, so this Tuesday would have seen a good ~25% drop or so in that situation.

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Actuals (12/05-06); 2021 Begins!
It would be nice if this 9th weekend could surpass the 8th weekend as you predict, I would have more imagined a slight drop and something around $5.5M-$6M, but it's true that an increase for the first time is quite possible this weekend

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Actuals (12/05-06); 2021 Begins!
An increase isn't guaranteed, of course, but one is doable and I believe it's more likely than not to occur this weekend. First giveaway weekend was down just 14%, and the second giveaway weekend was down even less at 3%, so with the lower numbers now, an increase is more achievable.

Re: Japan Box-Office: WKND Actuals (12/05-06); 2021 Begins!
It is down around 12% at this point in the day, compared to last Wednesday and 36% up from yesterday. Maybe this could be considered the first sign for an increase this weekend, or at the very least a sign for it staying flat.

Its Wednesday so I do not think that to be sign for the weekend. Weekends are behaving very differently for this movie due to giveaway effect.
