And then everyone else, office workers and such, begin their holiday on New Year's Eve/New Year. Since the Government is very likely to approve the New Year extension this year (to avoid travel congestion since New Year and the Bank Holidays occur over the weekend itself), the overall break will be from ~Dec. 25-Jan. 12th. Thank you

Its numbers (that I have) are estimated based on its USD Varity numbers way back in the day, with various totals being announced in news articles during its run. Not saying the numbers you posted are exactly, just that I've noticed a few that seem unusual. First, its opening weekend should be its week one total since it was a Saturday opener. Second, you have it above ¥15 billion after six weeks, but Eiga says it exceeded ¥14 billion after six weeks. If it was over ¥15 billion, I would think they'd have announced it that way.
These are EDI numbers, the box office source back the just like comScore today. These are actual numbers not converted from USD. Quite possibly 1.6bn is including previews. Beside I am sharing the numbers as I received. Regarding that 14Bn after 6 weeks, it is possible they are accounting for weeks since release including one week of previews.

Friday openings only became the norm around 2006 for Hollywood films, and only much more recently in 2018 for local films. There are of course some exceptions when a Friday opening day was given, such as on a holiday or before a holiday week or something, but Saturday opening days were very standard then.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
So, that's super close to Frozen. I know. It could be over Frozen as of Sunday, day 38, but I'm going a little conservative with the weekend estimate since it lost some IMAX showings to Doraemon over the weekend, which probably lowered its average ticket price just slightly. But even if it's not above Frozen as of Sunday, it'll get there first thing in the morning tomorrow (probably already there in Monday presales alone).

Again, I know it's super close to surpass Frozen's total now, and it could have done so after Sunday, but I'm just being a little conservative (from some IMAX screen lose--which it'll get back next week I'm predicting) in case it's slightly below it still. If it is indeed just below Frozen right now, it'll fly past it tomorrow

Okay, sounds good to me! I'll update it on all the charts moving forward. Alo12345 wrote: Any chance it will pass Titanic before the next weekend? It depends on where the actuals end up after Monday. I don't think it'll get there before next weekend though unless actuals come in a fair bit above estimates. But it'll surpass it over next weekend, for sure. want to make the game more challenge passing titanic after friday seems... interesting

Note: Some actual admission totals (some some are often estimated or rounded) have been revealed recently, so some films have been updated!
Also, I've begun to add the re-release admissions in [brackets] next to films with reported re-release figures. And I know that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is currently in re-release (3D/4DX), but I'm waiting until its finished to estimate its re-release admissions before adding them next to it.

The majority of population doesn't care box office at all but it could provide a tiny boost Yeah, while the Fantastic Beasts films have done well in Japan (the first one outgrossed HP7-1), they didn't need anywhere close to the number of seats/showtimes they received. But they both also debuted in open marketplaces (mid-November is typically slow), so there wasn't really much else theaters could put on their bigger screens that made sense then either. And passing Titanic is unlikely to provide any noticeable boost. Now, when it surpasses Spirited Away, that's likely to create some interest among non-moviegoers who see it reported in the news and become interested in what just happened.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
A Saturday a little weaker than expected but a very strong Sunday as expected there was nothing to worry about yesterday, at the moment I am asking myself 2 questions:
1. Is it still possible for Demon Slayer to exceed ¥26Bn by tomorrow (I say that because in @Corpse's predictions a few days ago he was predicting ¥25.62Bn by today and ¥26.15Bn by Monday and the numbers turned out to be a little lower than expected)
2. A few weeks ago @Corpse you told me that $275M is 100% locked, now that the situation has changed what can we say who is 100% locked if the health situation allows it ? $300M maybe ?

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Monday looks good at various locations. It's tough to say if it's Sunday good, but it looks stronger than Saturday before the day starts. However, Monday will act like a traditional Sunday, beginning off very strong before slowing down later in the day and stalling out at night. I'd expect something between Saturday and Sunday, slightly closer to Sunday than Saturday. ¥26 billion after tomorrow is probably 50/50 right now.
Alo12345, you can check the Top Grossing Films Chart above to see, but it's ¥27.05 billion with the 3D re-release added for Titanic. But remember that re-releases aren't normally added to an original total in the market, so the news reports will say it passes Titanic when it gets above ¥26.20 billion.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Regarding that estimate for Stand By Me, Doraemon 2, it's very rough. Its average ticket price is likely to be lower than the 2014 original, but it'll be much higher than the annual franchise films. So this really makes determining an estimate pretty difficult since that's a wide-range. Could be a little higher, could be a little lower. We'll know on Tuesday.
Since Monday is a holiday, numbers won't be reported this weekend until Tuesday.
