Report says over 100 march in support of Snowden. I'd say a few thousand more people would join in if Snowden revealed something like the Chinese government spying on Hong Kong or Hong Kong government keeping a PRISM program.

Now You See Me obliterates everyone. OK for Hangover 3. Still bad for After Earth. Really awful for Switch. Its opening day remains its highest grossing day. Huge increase for Fast & Furious 6 but not a good hold week-week. Terrible for So Young. It had the weakest increase of the top 10. Great holds for American Dreams in China and Pee Mak Phra Khanong. Better for Miracle in Cell No. 7. Astronomical increase for The Great Gatsby.

Man of Steel update

Man of Steel IMAX tickets are on sale. On its 1st day of selling, peak showtimes are 30% full. It's not even close to the insane frenzy for Iron Man 3 tickets on its 1st day of pre-selling but Man of Steel will definitely get close to selling out.

World War Z update

Excellent for Now You See Me. After Earth and Hangover fell hard. Ouch for Hangover 3 with its decrease. Nice jump for Switch but it's still terrible. Great hold for American Dreams in China. Much better for Fast & Furious 6. Awful for So Young. People must be responding to Miracle in Cell No. 7's WOM. Enormous jump. Good for Thomas & Friends: Blue Mountain Mystery. The Great Gatsby is looking OK.

I did expect NYSM to do big numbers after your reports but this is just HUGE. Goes to show that interesting story and good marketing still sells movies

So I found a Variety article that stated Rocky III was up to HK$5.9m after a few weeks on release. The article was dated 2nd March 1983 and the film was released on 27th January 1983, so it was probably nearing the end of its run. So, Rocky III made around $1m in USD from Hong Kong.

World War Z Wednesday schedules are out. Most have allocated 1 screen for the zombie apocalypse film but some have opted to put it on 2 screens (either 2 for 3D or 1 for 3D/2D separately). Pre-sales are quite good at Langham Place and a few other locations. It looks to be shooting for a 1m OW.

Now You See Me had a very strong Monday, nearly matching its Thursday admissions.

Man of Steel IMAX update

Most theaters have not posted Man of Steel's schedules yet but let's take a look at how well Man of Steel is doing in IMAX.





At the iSQUARE IMAX, peak showtimes are nearing 50% capacity with a week and a half to go.

Now, let's check the Megabox IMAX.



Quite good. Most profitable showtimes are 20-30% full. People that go to Megabox don't buy tickets as fast as those people that watch in iSQUARE so Man of Steel won't have a problem selling out here.

If you're worried about Man of Steel's pre-sales in IMAX, I reassure you that these are very good pre-sales. Most films fill up half of the theater a few days in advance. This is still more than a week out so Man of Steel is headed for a weekend north of 3m.

Looking good for Man of Steel. I'm guessing the mainland will be the same, so here's to avoiding the queues and going for an early Saturday morning show!

Fantastic number for Now You See Me. Most holdovers suffered terrible drops with the loss of last Wednesday's holiday. American Dreams in China held extremely well. Nice number for Miracle in Cell No. 7. WOM is spreading. Pee Mak Phra Khanong is still doing quite good.

That number is below Battleship/Sherlock Holmes 2 and Fast & Furious 6's Wednesday pre-sales. World War Z's number is very good though. It's not a sequel nor does it features robots or aliens. It will aim for 1m this weekend.

Pretty good for Now You See Me. It will fall harder later today but people have been very receptive to this caper flick. All the holdovers saw huge drops with pre-sales. So Young had an OK drop. This is why I don't like Wednesday admissions. Long Weekend and Dead Man Down are there because of house bookings not because it saw an upsurge of random viewers today.

That's kinda good for WWZ. If it does these kinda of numbers everywhere then it might turn a small profit for studios.

Badges of Fury, Jet Li's new movie, is getting special screenings on Friday. Interest must not have been high enough to open on the 28th. Pre-sales don't look all that great either.

Now You See Me has regained #1 from World War Z. This should be Now You See Me's last day at #1.

Found Rocky III's gross.

Rocky III grossed $6,079,095 HK back in 1982. It opened on October 28 and stayed in theaters for 55 days. Using October 28, 1982's exchange rate, Rocky III made $884,875 US. It was the 3rd biggest foreign release of the year.

I think Bluebomb got your answer. For some reason, they removed "Rocky" from the Chinese titles of Rocky III and Rocky IV. That made it hard to search.

However, I found articles dated in March 1983 with weekly totals for Hong Kong and Rocky III's gross was there. This also corresponds with IMDb.com's release date of 28th Jan 1983 for it.

The article I found said that it made HK$5.9m, which would be $904,800 using that dates' exchange rate, so it's not much difference, but I'd like to know how two release dates are available.
