Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
With 2.15m admissions, SW7 delivered the 6th biggest opening weekend of all-time, beating all previous SW movies and setting a new December opening weekend record (beating all LOTR films).
With €25.3m in box office, SW7 crushed the previous record by 43 % or €7.6m
All numbers are estimates...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Nice for Star Wars.
After looking at the debuts, most of the all-time openings came out of countries with the oldest populations, where as in the younger markets it mainly just set the December record.

All numbers are estimates... I think it is time to accept that Harry Potter's opening record will never be beaten in admissions. It is a rarirty that a movie as huge as Star Wars did not get previews, so it had all the chances. There might be openers that will get to 2.6 million admissions, but they will do so with previews included.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
I think with holidays and vacation it might be possible...
And previews are not allowed in the weekend numbers since January 2010...

And previews are not allowed in the weekend numbers since January 2010... That is exactly my point. Some films that might actually have a chance to break the record, might still have gigantic previews which will cost audiences for the actual weekend. I mean Skyfall would have opened to 2+ million admissions without previews.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Difficult to say as the weather reports forecast snowstorms for the weekend... My guess it will stay about even with the 2nd weekend...
Midweek numbers are through the roof though and could set a new record...
Two week total should be between 5.75m to 5.95m admissions...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Yesterday SW7 passed EMPIRE and JEDI, today it will pass EP2 and probably EP3 - we're talking admissions here of course...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Looks like it will get to 8.5 million admissions total tops. Won't pass The Phantom Menace (if you include re-releases).
