It really got slammed by the competition. The weaker market allowed to really break out opening weekend, but the rush afterwards really hurt it.

I objectively think that even with BB type word of mouth, this tops our around 315 us and 700-725 ww. I don't think out of this world WOM for MOS would have slowed down any of the films which opened after it.

I still believe its the WOM. Its opening was quite good and WWZ wasn't something that it couldn't have overtaken after that it had WHD and TLR ofcourse MU and DM2 were also in its competition but this one had many other demographics to rely on. The competition hits every movie in summer but that does not mean then don't make much only because of that. Look at WWZ, it is doing pretty good even with competition even now whereas MOS kept dropping like rock. The WOM was good among fanbase and nerds but after the movie finishes you can easily realize its flaws and forget the movie. Its good WOM but not great that can be spread the uninterested ones.

WWZ has a lot of female appeal which is probably helping it out. I mean that movie is holding better than Monsters University

looking at the breakdowns, it looks like MOS did pretty good in some countries, but shitty in many others. Germany and Russia are pathetic

Comparing WWZ's demo to MU is probably the worst idea. MU has to face DM2 and other tons of movies that impact it directly. WWZ's major competition came only in Pacific Rim and by the time it had made most of its money, now its just good WOM, also there are fair amount of movies targeting females so it can't just be that.

And again the point was the competition for MoS and not WWZ.
