For BKB, it's about the movies, not the numbers and the Twitter tracking.

 Re: THOR midnights
Iron Man started early and got $3.5m pre-midnight, so this is quite good.

 Re: THOR midnights (Hammertime)
Very good number - should be interesting to see how it fares today. I doubted Thor as recently as two weks ago, but there is definite organic/real-world interest.

 Re: THOR midnights (Hammertime)
Exactly as expected. Dont know why anyone doubted this would do over $65m. Kind of a given after the OS numbers.

The film had more OS appeal than most comic-book films due to its reliance on mythology and appealing to that "swords&sandals" demo. Also, it's not that often we have back-to-back 65m+ openers, both essentially appealing to the same demo. And, justified or not, faith in the domestic B.O. was spiraling downard. Kind of hard to think big until proven otherwise.

 Re: THOR midnights (Hammertime)
Perhaps we did just need big blockbuster fx flicks to get the teens back out in force.

Gunslinger wrote: If only they had turned out for Hanna! No kidding, that movie was incredibly awesome and hopefully it does well post-theater. I think it was a challenge to market to teens - they could used more of the soundtrack and used the friendship angle for girls and more of the top-notch cqc for teen boys.

 Re: THOR midnights (Hammertime)
^ Hanna still did much, much, much better than I ever would have expected, though. Its eventual $40M gross is nothing to sneeze at.

 Re: THOR midnights (Hammertime)
People are comparing apples to oranges.
F5 has been increasing OW and still remains the fifth installment of the franchise and even though Thor is a comic-book we all know that it is not as famous, plus this is the first movie of the franchise (if they decide to make more of it)
