The film is in like 300 theatres. I don't see it. Just couldn't stabilize.

Re: Will Warner Bros push Godzilla to $200 million?
It started its dollar run this weekend, I guess, with the addition of 23 cinemas. It's $1.5m away from $200m. If it reaches that mark, it may need to be pushed slightly. I think this weekend it can make $350k, so by next weekend it may be at $199m. Warner Bros. are known for leaving films in cinemas for ages, so I guess the same will apply here and eventually, some time in August, it will cross it...without much pushing.

Yes, it will. This weekend, it grossed $515,187 and its current domestic total is at $199,019,979.

It might even get there before Labor Day. I wonder if neighbors will hit 150 million or if Godzilla will hit 200 million first.

Re: Will Warner Bros push Godzilla to $200 million?
It's quite cool that five Summer releases grossed $200m or more. Is that a record? It looks like Dawn of the Apes will do it too, which would make six. 22 Jump Street will not, though. But then there's the wildcard of Guardians of the Galaxy... might be seven.

22 Jump street still has a 2% chance, I think.

Re: Will Warner Bros push Godzilla to $200 million?
Coming off a $4m weekend, it still needs $20m to get there. Not a chance.

Re: Will Warner Bros push Godzilla to $200 million?
22 Jump Street's chance is much higher than 2%. Here is its trajectory:
3rd weekend > projected total with a 4x multiplier = 188M 4th weekend > 189M projection 5th weekend > 191M projection 6th weekend > 194.5M projection
The use of a 4x multiplier always underprojected its trajectory. With another good hold, the new projection could be about 196M. Dollar theatres and LD bump can do the rest.
I'd give it at least a 33% chance of reaching the mark.

Re: Will Warner Bros push Godzilla to $200 million?
It just came off a 500K+ weekend thanks to dollar theaters with less than 1M to go.
Yeah, it'll get there.

Re: Will Warner Bros push Godzilla to $200 million?
There's a very good reason there are zero films between 198.7-199.9m. 100m used to be that important, but in the past few years, studios have started to deem 100m as not worth the push(there are 2 films between 99-99.9m, ten times that between 100-100.9m). 200m will eventually lose that appeal as well, but not for awhile.

What would Bradley be thinking right now?

Bradley's absence is probably because he flew to Japan to catch the opening weekend in its native country.

It'll get there by the end of the weekend. I wonder if WB will push Edge of Tomorrow though.

Re: Will Warner Bros push Godzilla to $200 million?
Edge of Tomorrow has a very tough weekend coming ahead. If it holds steady this weekend and reaches $99m on its own then I believe WB will push it to the mark.

Indeed. Congrats to Godzilla for avoiding a humiliating milestone. We'll always have opening weekend.
