 The Apopalypse Is Nigh
At midnight tonight, October 20/21, the two greatest pop singers of all time, Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen, release their albums together. Will the world of pop music survive? Or will it be too awesome to ever settle for anything less ever again?
I figured this needed its own thread.
PS: Arctic Monkeys, Sloan, Architects and Tegan+Sara also release new albums tonight. It's going to be quite the midnight.

Will anyone listen to any of these besides the Taylor album?
Stay tuned!

Arctic Monkeys will deserve a listen.

Karma was my favorite off midnights. Carly up next. Then maybe Arctic Monkeys if I can stay up, tomorrow for sure if not.

Carly wins first listen for me. Kind of an upset really. Surrender My Heart is such a jam. Wish she had played it when I saw her show a few weeks ago!

Wait, Taylor just released seven more songs. I guess the battle isn't over yet.

Only listened to the extra tracks once. Feels very Evermore which makes sense that its not on standard. I'm so hung up on the standars that idk when I'll give Carly a full listen lol

I didn't love Taylors album. Her voice is more suited to upbeat music. She needs to go for the tone of Red. That's her sweet spot

Early standouts out for me other than Anti-Hero are Bejeweled, Karma, You're on Your Own Kid and Mastermind.
I get the feeling a lot of these were unused songs, maybe she remembered which ones she wrote in the middle of the night. So there is some like You're on your Own Kid that are more like Speak Now/Red while some songs like Vigilante Shit were from Reputation era.
