It's about time when music publications list their "best of the decade" lists most of which are going to be falling over themselves to rank multiple Beyonce albums in their top 5/10, so I just wanted to lol again at the world deciding Beyonce is one of our great musical visionaries just because she started acting black. I originally titled this "Beyonce is the most overrated musical artist of all time" but I stopped because I actually liked her career up until 2009 between Destiny's Child and then some iconic hits like Crazy In Love, Irreplaceable and I really like the Sasha Fierce era (If I Were a Boy, Halo, Single Ladies, Sweet Dreams). After that is when the bottom fell out and she doesn't have any super memorable hits this entire decade and isn't an interesting album artist because she doesn't write her own songs and her personality is utterly robotic, yet she is treated like the baby Jesus. If not for the stupid hype, her post 2009 career would be very typical for an over 30 pop star (eg. Katy Perry), the #1 hits stop cause their sound becomes outdated for young fans, and the hitsmakers also go for younger artists. |

Love On Top is great from 4, Drunk in Love is ok, I think those are her most memorable songs from the 10’s. Lemonade is fine but undeserving of the hype. A big thing is that I think Drunk in a Love was her only song heavily promoted to pop radio since Sasha Fierce. Sorry got a tiny push on Lemonade, but it seems Beyoncé lost interest in promoting singles post Sasha Fierce. |

Her stardom and success felt organic up until the 4 album. After that it started to feel like an overblown media hype thing that became a meme (her being a supreme queen or whatever), which was a really smart marketing decision after she stopped being able to get big hits on the radio. But it definitely felt a bit hollow and now that the 'Queen Bey!11' thing has calmed down a bit her last few projects like the Jay-Z joint album and the Lion King soundtrack have flopped. Like zwackerm said, only "Love on Top" and "Drunk in Love" really connected this decade, and those feel very minor next to the hits of a Rihanna or a Gaga this decade. |

I think I liked three songs of hers this decade, "Love On Top", "Best Thing I Never Had" and "XO". That pales to the 00's, when I think she was all that. So yeah, I agree with her being overrated. |
