36. Justin Bieber - Love Yourself (Feb 13, Feb 27 2016, 2 weeks)

The Biebs best solo song, Love Yourself has great lyrics about finding out someone in a relationship is selfish and a great beat. The video is also top notch.

35. Ed Sheeran - Shape of You (Jan 28, Feb 18-Apr 29 2017, 12 weeks)

Ed Sheeran's smash has an instantly recognizable beat and I like its low key sexiness. The bedsheets line is my favorite.

34. Pharrell - Happy (Mar 8-May 1 2014, 10 weeks)

The original and better Can't Stop the Feeling, the song is not only impeccably produced but Pharrell steps out of the booth and does a great job singing it as well

33. Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee, Justin Bieber - Despacito (May 27-Sept 9 2017, 16 weeks)

32. The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey - Closer (Sept 3-Nov 19 2016, 12 weeks)

Two more huge smashes, both have been big growers on me and friendly songs to hear on the radio. I think unlike some features to an already hit song Bieber makes Despacito better to me, it's nice to have some of that English meaning, and he fits Fonsi and the song's sensibilities. Likewise I think Halsey is one of the keys to Closer as it makes the song a conversation between the two exes and gives the song a twinge of melancholy. The deliberately spelled out lines of the chorus combined with the beat is memorable.

31. DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne - I'm the One (May 20 2017, 1 week)

This is probably higher than anyone else would have it, but I fucked with this song for a few weeks last year. The combination of Khaled's beat and Biebs kill in this song while the other guys are good not great, but it works overall. The video of these guys hanging out on his estate with a bunch of chicks works pretty perfectly

30. Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do (Sept 16-30 2017, 3 weeks)

This song seemed a weird choice at first but has since been a grower, with the verses and the bridge as the best part. The video doesn't hurt either.

29. Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX - Fancy

The red hot beat and Chari's chorus does a lot of the work, but this is a very solid bop by Carmella Iggy with a lot of attitude in a good way. I'm cool with Iggy and it's too bad her career has now been found in a ditch

28. Ke$ha - TiK ToK (Jan 2-Feb 27 2010, 9 weeks)

It's a great pop song and I like that they included the slower bridge part. But as was the case with We R What We R, I favor a lot of her deeper cuts or non #1 singles more

27. Adele - Rolling in the Deep (May 21-July 2 2011, 6 weeks)

A very nice breakout single for Adele, I really like the lyrics from the big line "we could have had it all" to lines like "think of me in the depths of your despair". It was really the singles after and listening to the rest of the album that made me a fan though.

26. Drake - Nice for What (Apr 21-May 12, Jun 2-9, June 23, July 14 2018, 8 weeks)

I can't believe it but Drake actually killed it with this song, and not just cause of OVO and the great sample but his rapping works pretty well too. It's refreshing that his voice sounds normal in this.

25. Camilla Cabello feat. Young Thug - Havana (Jan. 27 2018, 1 week)

One of the better pop songs of the last few years, Havana is catchy and sexy and the "I left my heart in" concept tends to work in songs. Solid feature by Young Thug.

24. The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk - Starboy (Jan 7, 1 week)

The Weeknd's best song, his falsetto has never seemed so cool or mysterious. I'm a motherfucking Starboy

23. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton - Can't Hold Us (May 18-June 15 2013, 5 weeks)

A fun single from one of my most listened to albums this decade. Ryan Lewis really kills it here. Macklemore's lyrics are ok for his standards but flows well

22. Cardi B feat. Bad Bunny, J. Balvin - I Like It (July 1st 2018, 1 week)

Trying not to go overboard cause of recency bias, but this song is pretty fire. The extra emphasis Cardi puts on the words in the chorus help make it, and I enjoy the lyrics in the verses with all the things she likes. Could use a minute less of the other guys, but that's ok, and respect for the Lady Gaga name drop.

21. Carly Rae Jepson - Call Me Maybe (June 23rd-Aug 18 2012, 9 weeks)

A delightful song of the summer. I'm not as super on board on the Carly Rae or EMOTION train as others, but this song is perfect for her style

20. Katy Perry - Roar (Sept 14-21, 2 weeks)

The first of Perry's 4 big bops in my top 20, it's an inspiring pump up song. The video is even more memorable than the song though

19. Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger (Sept 10 and Sept 24-Oct 8 2011, 3 weeks)

I forgot that this was a kind of incredible pop song, definitely up their with their first few singles for Maroon 5's best songs. A memorable whistle beat and overall banger of a chorus, and Xtina is not out of place.

18. Katy Perry - California Gurls (June 19-July 24 2010, 6 weeks)

17. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream (Sept 18-23 2010, 2 weeks)

Two more terrific pop songs from Perry in her prime. California Gurls gets away with being audaciously shallow because of being that catchy (Or Perry being that fine, damnn at the nude cotton candy(?) part), and somehow makes the Snoop Dogg verse work. Teenage Dream has a little more heart and wistfulness, I enjoy the softness in her voice in the verses especially to open the song.

16. Taylor Swift - Shake It Off (Sept 6-Sept 13, Nov 15-22 2014, 4 weeks)

This song is just fun and Taylor is having it. The trumpets (?) add nicely to the song. The lyrics are at once meaningless and great as they feel like they come from Taylor's POV.

The list was shaky for a little while but were mostly back on track. I wanna see Blank Space at #1.

Also :wub2: for Carly. At least she had one #1.

15. Adele - Set Fire to the Rain (Feb 4-11 2012, 2 weeks)

An intense breakup song by Adele as one could expect, the lyrics tell the story well and the piano opening and violin backing help make the song. A standout on 21

14. Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball (Sept 28-Oct 5 and Dec 14 2013, 3 weeks)

Both the quieter verses and the anthem chorus are memorable in this song, and Miley's vocal is great and emotional. Of course, the video is iconic. A relatable song for someone who's unfortunately a king of attracting women with walls

13. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) (Feb 18-24 and March 10 2012, 3 weeks)

One of Kelly's best songs, Stronger right in her wheelhouse as an independent anthem and has excellent production

12. Pitbull feat. Ke$ha - Timber (Jan 18-Feb 1 2014, 4 weeks)

Love the concept for this chorus, the Ke$ha part is overall pop perfection. Pitbull's parts are just good enough to make the rest work. The country line dancing beat manages to fit in well with both their sensibilities.

11. Taylor Swift - Blank Space (Nov 29-Jan 10, 7 weeks)

One of Taylor's most enjoyable songs lyrically and her talking to you vocal style works perfectly in this making it seems like she's talking to her prospective next boyfriend
